Hi, I have the 4000Mah Plus with the 5.3v Duralite regulator and HD fail safe switch. Do you guys disconnect the battery from the regulator when the heli is not in use considering that the switch will fail in the on position or just leave it connected?
Also is the battery to regulator connectors just plugged in for flight or permanently fixed somehow?
Thanks

I leave the battery plugged into the failsafe regulator all the time. Unless I am not going to fly the heli for a few weeks. Then I unplug the battery from the failsafe regulator. The reason being the failsafe regulator draws a slight current from the battery even when the switch and power are OFF.
I take some heat shrink or dental floss and secure all the connection points.
If the switch fails you will no it. You will not be able to turn the power off to the receiver. I have not seen a switch fail with the heli sitting on the bench on charge.

I treat it the same as David, they are plugged in all the time. I prefer dental floss or string of some sort over heatshrink for the simplicity of removal.
I have never had a switch fail on the bench, the only switch failures I have seen was a friends after a flight in which it was known that it could not be turned off and one I burried into the ground.

Thanks, I was worried about the switch failing on the bench and then draining the battery to a voltage that could damage it. The heli is not flown sometimes for over a month.

When the heli is not going to be flown for a long period. Unplug the battery from the fail safe switch regulator. There is a very slight battery drain when the switch is OFF and no power is being delivered to the rx. IT just the nature of the circuit in the Fail safe switched regulator.
