DX7 with SwitchGlo Problem

I'm trying to start my Vibe for the first time today. I have a DX7 so no extra channel left open on the R921 receiver, so i used the y harness into my gear channel to toggle it on and off with HH and Rate mode. Problem is, it will beep randomly, but when I leave the gear endpoints at 100 and 100 it is a solid tone. Can someone please help me out? I'm really desperate to fly this weekend.

I left the gear channel as gear and plugged into the gear channel on the rx and us the gear switch on the dx7 to turn on and off.
