Hello!
I was told from PaulH that the Bergen Crew had migrated over here. I now feel a part of the Bergen crew as I got mine this past weekend. Not a new one but very close and it is a Beregn thats all that matters to me. :D Built in April, only hovered a couple times.
I hope to learn and someday contribute something but for now I will be relying in the help of other fellow Bergeneers and experts :D to help me get things going in the right direction.
I asked this question over at RR but got no replies;
I want to join the AMA and I saw that someone could get a free years dues by signing up 3 people. I wondering if anyone was trying for that or doing that.
I am just offering to help someone get the free year, before I sign up.
PM if you are interested.
Looking forward to talking with you all!
Gotta go load up some pictures of my heli in my gallery
Keep Pushin On!

Well if you are looking for Greg, Malorie, Chris, Gary or that new "kid" Bobby, then yes they are here!
I had not heard of that AMA promotion before.
 Welcome

You won't find a better crew than Greg, Chris, Malorie and Bobby (I haven't met Gary yet).
Chris let me take the sticks of his night rig, I must say I was impressed with the cyclic response. Definitely a quality bird.
Every person mentioned above has gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping a newbie (me) with dumb questions or just general help, even though I don't own a Bergen yet. I am glad I met all of them.
Haven't heard anything on that AMA promotion though.

DD,
I was not looking for anyone in paticular. Just a place where some real good Bergen information, advice, and friendly people to help me get through the rough spots and such. Plus, hopefully meet some people at different fileds and events and such.
I was looking at the AMA site and down on the left was the information on the "sponsor" program. Sign up 3 and get a free years worth of dues. That is $58 savings.
I will wait a week or so to see if anyone is or does participate and wants to sponsor me.

Hi Gary!
I got the Intrepid Gas. My pictures should be in the gallery. I got it this past weekend. It is not brand new but it is real close. I got it of a guy at RR, (bleesweb) He built it in April and hovered it a couple times.
I am really glad I had those talks with you.
After I talked with you via email, I just knew what I wanted to get. But like I told you I could not afford to get a new one and then have you put it together.
Then right after our last email I found this one, already set up with servos and everything/ Just needed to add my Receiver and Radio. :glasses2: :D
I am going to PM or email you about tuning it and setting the controls and such.

Hi! I'm glad you found your way over here. I think you'll see that this forum is a bit more open minded than RR. I have been trying to encourage people to look over here as I see them asking questions in the Bergen forum.
The Trex folks followed Finless (Bob) here last month. This month it's the Bergen crew. :)

Welcome to the family!
You were right to listen to Gary's advice. Keep listening to what he tells you to do. He's been at this game for a while, and trust me, he won't steer you wrong. You will hear other supposed experts try to tell you the "best" way to do things, but you will be better off sticking with what Gary and the other Bergen crew tells you.
Good Luck with the new bird.

Welcome!
Bergen is top notch in everyway.
Im curious Chris B, Larry B., Malorie, Gary and Greg....What kinda education background has served ya'll well by starting the MIn air upgrades, then the Intrepid helis, runnin a machine shop business etc..
I am off active duty and after fiddling with ya'll helis for so many years now I am going back to school fulltime, and will start a machinist course. Also gunsmith not sure tho.
What education would ya'll get if one could go back knowing what ya know now?.
Sorry if I hijacked this thread, ignore if innapropiate. Thanks.

I believe Gary has a degree in engineering....That has to come in handy. I think I've heard Larry does too, but not sure.

Hello EVERYONE!
Thanks so much for the kind welcome. I know after much research that I made the right decision. I will forever be a Bergen rotorhead! :D
I have mine sitting up on my fireplace mantle like a trophy!
But it will be a while before I fly it.
Gary told me the other day to enjoy it. He will get to fly it before I will. I am going to send it to him to make sure it set up right and such.
Then after I get to Texas I am going try and go out and spend a few days with Gary.
I am having problems getting my Reflex and radio set up, I can imagine how hard it would getting the heli set up right the first time.
I got alot to learn, but I have nothing else to do.
Thanks again for the welcome.

Mike,
I do not want to discourage you from sending it out to Gary, but he's been helping me with my engine tuning through email and messages. I'm willing to apply that information to your bird if you're able to bring it to Boston some weekend.
Let me know...

Hey Paul!
That's very doable. I was going to see if you wanted to get together someday. Since we are not that far apart.
Hey do you know anything about the Reflex Sim? I cannot get the throttle to work correctly. Everything else is working correctly but the throttle. When I give it he gas it just spins to the side.
Thanks for the invite!

Mike,
This weekend is father's day and next weekend is my wedding anniversary, so they're out. The following weekend (1st & 2nd of July) or Independence day would be doable. Assuming nothing comes up, we could get together then, or any weekend after.
I have never used Reflex. You'll have to find that out from someone else. Sorry. :-(

Paul,
I could not do it for a while myself. I am moving and then I am going to NC for 3 weeks. So it would have to be in August-Sept.
I am getting really upset at this SIM! :arggg:
Major MAD!

Mike,
Welcome to Bergen!
The reflex issue may be something as simple as channel assignments and your throttle stick is mapped to aileron or something like that. I had to make a special model in my radio for the sim because my helicopters in real life didn't work the same.

No problem. Just drop me a line whenever. I'll be around.
Where are you moving to?

Hey Chilipepper!
Thanks. I figured it out after a bit, but you were right on.
The channels were just not set right. Everything I was reading was for Futabas and I have JR, so I had to figure out the channels on my own. I pulled up the channel assignement and plyed with controls until I got them set right.
Not fun at first, but now I understand it a little bit better. That is all part of it I guess. LIVING and LEARNING. Thanks again.
Paul,
I am in the process of still getting moved to Enfield, CT. I am still in VT. In a transition stage. I could not completely move until my kids finished school.
Plus, being disabled and single father of 2 girls and no family in the area makes it quite hard.
But like my motto, I "Keep Pushin On!"
I know Boston well, I used to deliver frozen grocery goods to area Stop & Shops. It has been a few years since I have been there, 1996-97 sometime. Went to Red Sox game. They lost but it was fun, sa wthe Green Monstor and all.
I really look forward to meeting you. I was wanting to find someone to take me under their wing so to speak.
Have a good one!
