A friend of mine in Jamaica was setting up his programmable head over the weekend, and was haveing trouble getting symetrical pitch from the blades with mid-stick at 0 degrees.

He had:

110mm from swashplate to mixing arms
33 mm from mixing arms to blade grips

with the angle between the mixing arm and the rod coming from the swashplate at 90 degrees when the blades are at zero degrees of pitch.

He ended up with:
103 mm from swashplate to mixing arms
33 mm from mixing arms to blade grips

It remember that it took me a while to go through this process initially.

Any magic to impart on doing this process ?

Here's how to do it:

1) Setup your swahplate at mid travel.
2) Set your blades at zero pitch.
3) install the ball link of the rod that goes from the swashplate on the swashplate's ball.
4) Adjust the lenght of that rod until the mixing arm has a 90 degree angle with that rod while the blades are at zero degrees of pitch. Once the distance is found install that ball link into the mixing arm's ball.
5) Adjust the short rod between the mixing arm and the flybar carrier to match the distance between the balls and install it.

Once you've done that simply copy the length of the rod to the swashplate, install it on the other side and repeat the process except don't adjust this length anymore so it stays the same lenght as the other side.
