I am looking at the box my TREX came in – it says TREX 450XL CCPM – it’s the yellow TREX
I have a ROTORWORKZ G3 Carbon Fiber main frame, and a few questions:
I have referenced the ROTORWORKZ online assembly instructions.
1. Am I missing something or does the Servo Layout for the G3 require a completely different swashplate? To me, it looks like the G3 assumes there is (1) servo forward of the main shaft, and (2) servos to the rear of the main shaft (where the anti- rotation guide is). The stock swashplate (yes the plastic one that will probably explode) locates one servo connection AT the anti-rotation guide. I am sure this mean I need a completely new and different swash plate?
2. Tail Boom Braces: Where in the heck are these supposed to be connected and what screws are you supposed to use (could not find this info in the online instructions). There are holes at the back of the Carbon Fiber frame, but they are rather small, and I am assuming you do NOT want to drive a small sheet metal screw into the Carbon Fiber to secure the tail boom braces ????
3. I have no idea how the canopy is supposed to fit: (I also can not find the answer to this in the online instructions). I am guessing that the small length of gas tube is to be used in some way to secure “Canopy Pin” in place. Is the length of gas tube supposed to be cut in sections? Should it be located inside the frame, or outside (if cut into sections)?
4. Lastly, when the canopy is located on the yet-to-be-secured Canopy Pin, I can not figure out what the canopy is supposed to be doing at the Front Cast Boom Block. The Front Cast Boom Block seems too wide to fit within the existing stock canopy. Furthermore, if the canopy is forced under the Front Cast Boom Block extensions, the holes do NOT line up with the Canopy Pin location.
I am sure you guys know the answers to these questions and I thank you in advance for your help.
I hate to admit this but I just want to sell the TREX and the RW Frame. (I also have the RW RAZOR fin set) I purchase both sometime last year (the RW frame at the insistence of someone on RR) and after hearing all the stories of exploding swash plates and tail rotors kinda lost my enthusiasm, so the stuff has been sitting on the shelf ever since.
When I first bought the TREX I partially assembled the kit but never purchased or installed a motor or any electronic components. Recently I listed both on eBay and did not get a great deal of activity so I thought I would try assembling the RW as a means of improving the salability of everything – so I’d like to get the frame assembled then photograph the bird and repost it on eBay.
