I finally got around to getting the G4 put together and I can't get the main gear and the tail drive gear to mesh up. They slip (The gears barely come together) and from what I can tell there is no way to adjust the mesh?
I am using the part numbers from the kit instructions. I have train 3 different main gears with the same results. Anyone have any ideas?

definately not the case. If it wher upside down the gear wouldn't even fit at all.

Well i had it upside down and even flew it and it made the worst noises.
the flat side of the main gear goes to the top and the auto clutch sticks out the bottom, the tail gear has a metal center piece that goes into the auto clutch and is bolted to the main shaft. i know that you know that and i've built and rebuilt seemslike hundreds of heli's and i still made that mistake. c-ya Ron

Terry,
I had to use a block sander to take a little bit off the spacer that sits ontop of the main gear, that allowed the entire main gear to raise up enough for me to get the required mesh to the tail drive on my sons G4 kit, I used the spacer that Charlie includes in the G4 kit, and I had to go and purchase all the SE parts separately because I already had an SE and wanted to build a G4 unit for the real flyer in the family
Ah to be 14 years old again, I never had neat toys like these when I was his age, not fair I tell you, just not fair.

Do you have the right second gear and counter gear. There are 2 different ratios and you need to have a set. Can you take a pick? This is one I have not heard of before.

I am using the exact part numbers from the instructions. Parts not specifically specified in the instructions are the stock SE parts

Terry, this was taken directly out of Charlies build instructions, the only thing I can think to check is the bearings and tail drive are correctly mounted in the delin blocks, I followed the directions to the tee and have no problems with mine, I'm running a complete set of blue delrin gears, upper, lower and tail drive?
Install Tail Gear Assembly in Tail Bearing Blocks
Locate the two tail gear bearing blocks. Each block has a recessed area, which should face away from one another when installed.
Coat the outer race of the lower bearing on the tail gear assembly with R-48 or LocTite 680.
Use picture on right to properly install (2) #2-56 bearing retaining screws on the correct side. Note- Bottom block screws are on bottom.
Press the lower bearing into the lower bearing block until it seats against the bearing stop screws. Make sure the bearing is fully seated and the tail gear assembly shaft is perpendicular to the bearing block.
Coat the outer race of the upper bearing with R-48 or LocTite 680.
Locate the upper bearing block, and note the recessed area. This recessed area marks the Topside of the upper bearing block.
Push the belt pulley through the upper bearing block, and continue until the upper bearing is seated. The bearing should end up flush with the recessed area of the upper bearing block.
Use picture on right to properly install (2) #2-56 bearing retaining screws on the correct side. Note-Top block screws are on top. Use R-48 or LocTite 680
Note – the new Align XL tail gear assemblies have a larger belt pulley flange that will not allow the pulley to go through the bearing opening. You can remove the pulley with a pinion puller, and reinstall it after the bearing is seated.

Terry,
Is it possible for you to take a pic and post it so we can see what isn't meshing?
