Was out putting on the show for the girlfriend and I have just learned some forward flight and figure 8's so Im still a totally new pilot to this only on my 3rd gallon of fuel.

I had it in about a 10' hover and I was snapping the tail left right left right and all of a sudden it starts spinning out of control around wide open. My first reaction was to take a few steps back  and I was like oh no this is going to cost me HUGE nothing would bring it back. Luckily it was dead calm and I have it trimmed out to fly hands off pretty well. So I start to let her down a bit and it spins faster. I bring it down close and chop it all at once and set it down. Didn't flip or anything just set down perfect nothing broken at all. Took the tail off and the previous owner (I bought it used) hadn't thread locked the set screws in the tail rod. So I found the screws floating around the tail locked her up. Out I went and flew some more. What an experience.

I had the same thing happen with a Hawk IV. Mine was a ARF kit. After I took mine apart, I discovered the tail wire did not have a flat filed on one side. I filed a flat, lock tite the screws, and flew until I upgraded to the torque tube drive.

Yes my in-experience could have been a major issue. Is there some kind of sticky or faq for emergency procedures? I fly a Bell 206 III Jetranger in real life and I am also a float plane pilot as well. We have emergency procedures is there such a thing for these little birds?

good save!
I simply used RED locktite on the tail drive wire assembly/wire junction.
The biggest issue was when the wire twisted inside the boom..
Spend the bucks and get the torque tube, make real sure you LUBE the center bearing before you install it.

Cool guys thanks for the tips! Now over to the raptor section for another question! I have the hawk dialed in perfect for hands off now! :D
