Like every other attempt I flared too early... but made it down relatively clean except the SK is set a bit too sensitive and ended up with a tip over/blade strikes on the ground stripping all 3 cyclic servos.
Good new is the plastic gears saved everything. $12 for 3 sets of DS510 gears versus $36 for 3 sets of 9650 gears and she's ready to fly again.
Picked up a 250 too. :smokin: Don't be mad Mystic :D

What tail servo are you running on that 250?

9257.
With 850 packs and the 401 its a bit tail heavy so I split the 401 in half. :rolling
Holds very well in backwards flight. Did my first forward half loop to backwards half loop today.
Gave me some confidence to try it on the 500. Was pretty awesome and I cant wait to try again soon.

Heheheh.. I see that you mounted the 401 on the side of the bird instead of inside the frame. I figured that the lower frame on the 250 would be wider than the Gaui 200's lower frame.. but maybe it isn't.
I mounted my 401 servo inside the lower frame on the Gaui 200, just in front of the main shaft and the cg is perfect with 800mAh or 900mAh packs. I also thought of running the larger 9650 or 9257 servos with the 401 like i do on the 450's but it seemed a bit much for this tiny little bugger. I ended up getting a hyperion ds09-gmd for the tail and it holds well enough for backwards flight, continued stationary flips, loops, tail drops etc.
Nice photos bro

Thats just the top half of the gyro where the controls are.
I mounted the rest of it in the normal place.

LoL, if he mounted the entire gyro that way he'd have really good elevator control...but no rudder control

Now that makes a lot of sense. I did think the 401 would work if you mount it vertically.
About the SK-360 at very low headspeed, I noticed the same thing here too. I normally cut the throttle 3-5 ft above the ground and land the heli without power, but the SK, as the headspeed is winding down, the gyro tend to over compensate (or was it me?) I almost tipped it over the other day. Now land land my Hurricane FBL with power.

I'll still auto it. Mine has been overly sensitive ever since I increased the AIL/ELE control rates and I haven't got around to adjusting for it.

Jagged did you shorten the wires on your 401? That'll save you some weight...especially on a 250.

I was laughing at myself when I bundled up the feet of gyro wire and ziptied it in the heli.
I did think to myself: "I'm a moron for going through the trouble of splitting the gyro in half for a 250 but not shortening the wires".
That's 100% Pure Laziness!! :rolling
thought the thread was about the 550 auto ?? :)
tell me more pls!
like the 250 too :P

well... you see...the 550 was doing this incredible auto when that pesky 250 got in the way....they should restrict those tiny things to basket ball courts and inside warehouses... keep them away from the real heli's...
that should get me flamed for sure....
