View Full Version : Motor shaft shim washer

Just noticed during lubing that at some point I didn't put the shim washer back on the shaft...it is necessary? My pinion doesn't come anywhere near the top motor mount bearing. On top of that, I can't find that part in stock anywhere...advice?

As a follow up, you can see by the pic below, I have about 5 mm of clearance from the bottom of the pinion to the bearing.

Yep.... Looks good to me. Is that a Pinion from Outrage?

I'm sure it's fine just be sure your pinion hight is correct when setting your mesh.

Oh....well I also noticed tonight that the top of the pinion is not within 1mm of the bottom of the main gear as the manual shows. It's more like 2.5mm. But I can't fix this unless I shave some length off the motor shaft.

It's still probably just fine. Just make sure that the part of the pinion that curves outward isn't causing a meshing issue. You want the pinion and main to mesh nice and even.
