guys, i have just got these 2 micro heli in RTF brushless mode. However, i am having a hard time flying them, and its impossible NOT to crash few times in every pack. Tried hoovering, doesn't stay as good as 450, flying in circuit or figure 8 is almost impossible. When u give a turn in figure 8 for example, it seems that they are having a hard time trying to recover from a corner, which in turn leads to a crash.

i have did the setting as per my 450 for the 4G3, of course its unable to fly, since at throttle 50% it needs to have some positive pitch, so i then reset as per manual, problem is still the same. Another major issue is that when u are in the air, it tends to be tail heavy, subtrim all the way forward doesn't help. I was wondering maybe there are some mod that needs to be done in order for it to fly.

1. are the brushless motor powerful enough?
2. tail motor is really hard to adjust, and i have replaced 1pc in less than 10 flights
3. if let says we were to convert it to use on my Spektrum DX7, what stuffs do i need?
4. why the supplied radio doesn't have throttle hold? so if in a crash in idle up mode, we have to switch to normal mode and throttle down? isn't that too slow?
5. is there any good brushless tail and gyro that fits these 2 heli?

Actually i have given up on this heli. But it seems rather wasted on shelf, and i saw many video on youtube that its flyable. so maybe need some advise to get it flying again.

These little Walkeras are probably the most difficult helis to fly due to their small size. The smaller the heli, the less stable, and you can't get much smaller than these, so they are going to be a handful to handle. If you are having trouble flying them, you are not alone! I don't know of anyone that just took it out of the box and started flying... it takes time and lots of patients!

1. are the brushless motor powerful enough?
Yes

2. tail motor is really hard to adjust, and i have replaced 1pc in less than 10 flights
What adjustment are you trying to make?

3. if let says we were to convert it to use on my Spektrum DX7, what stuffs do i need?
You can't use any other transmitter. You have to use the Walkera transmitter. Converting it would be more trouble and cost than it is worth.

4. why the supplied radio doesn't have throttle hold? so if in a crash in idle up mode, we have to switch to normal mode and throttle down? isn't that too slow?
Which transmitter are you using? The 2401 or the new 2801?

5. is there any good brushless tail and gyro that fits these 2 heli?
Yes, check out http://www.chinesejade.com/walkera4_3_A_B.htm, WowHobbies.com, and RotorFever.com

the tail doesn't hold for a few flights, then it will pirouette like crazy. but its fine after i replace a new one. i really think i need a brushless tail.

i m using the tx that comes with it. not the 8channel ones

It's quite normal for stock TX's to lack a throttle hold - same with Esky
The best tail motor solution is the 2.9g brushless and flea from wowhobbies or nanoheli, the flea is expensive and usually out of stock, however chinese jade is supposed to be stocking a cheaper version in the near future. The stock tail does need a fair amount of setting up to get it to work well.

BTW you don't need positive pitch at 50% throttle, any CP heli should be set up for 0 degrees pitch at mid-stick

if you have the WK-2401 it has positions for switches. Open the case and just properly wire a switch to use as throttle cut. My 4#3b (brushless) fly out of the box. I can not say that it was difficult to hover at all. 80 batteries in two weeks, abt 150 crashes and not one part to replace.

However there are some things to look at/change:

1. Check all screws most were loose from the factory.
2. Be sure that your main blades are loose (dont tigth them).
3. Check that your flybars are in line.Be aware that you can turn the plastic alone its no need (and you can not) to rotate the small brush rod (weigths).
4. Check the main motors screws and align the mesh with the main gear (vr loose mesh, experiment, huge improvement on fligth time).
5. Glue with CA the ball in swashplate on the shaft (google it to see the proper way).
6. Check that there are no up-down slop on the main shaft beetween main gear and the small black plastic stop on the shaft. If the gap on the shaft which keep it in place is too high (as was mine) then glue it to eliminate the up-down movement of the shaft.
7. Find a piece of 1.5mm wire cut four small pieces and put then on the skids (i dont remember how we tell them on trex but they help to dump your landings and prevent the heli to turn around on ground).
8. Find a piece of abt 1mm wire , cut a small piece and put it on the tail saft (after the blades) to keep the shaft in place.
9. Check after every crash that the tail is still parralel to the main shaft. If it keeps turning or become to loose glue (CA) it.
10. CHECK AND FIX THE GC of the heli.

When you get the brushless version:

1. Turn around the battery holder to maintain a proper GA.
2. Using a marker mark every battery to replace them quicly maintaining the proper GC.
3. Cut the middle plastic of the battery holder (the one excactly under the main shaft) to prevent the main shaft "rubbing" on it.
4. Google around to find a better way to arange your electronics (yes there is).
5. BE VERY CAREFULL puting the canopy on the 4#3b. EVERY time it should go in its place WITHOUT any effort. Otherwise when in place it bends the helis frame.
6. Check that the elevator servo link is not bind on the motor.
7. Check that the other link is not bind on the canopy side (if it is, just trim the servos plastic arm with pliers).

I can asure you that 4#3b it will be one of the best helis you ever had (considering where and when you can fligth it).

dont give up.

guys, my 4G3 v2 brushless have been sleeping for a while coz i was waiting for a spare. I tighten the feathering shaft too tight and a screw got broke and stuck inside.. now that i fixed it, i try setting up my way like i do for 450, it didn't want to lift off the ground, so i tried the manual setting, also the same... I need some help on DIP 10,11,12 setting... i think i have also messed up with the mix and extent meter.. i broke a brand new CF blade just now as it struggle to lift off..

strangely, most of the 4G3 on youtube flies really nice... i have spend alot of time setting it, but still unable to get it airborn... i remember last time, it did fly out of the box, but was wondering all over.. help guy.

the radio that comes with it kindof hard to use for setting.. does anyone know where can we find step by step or video tutorial on setting this bitch up? thanks..

How do u guys set the pitch for normal mode? in my 450, i set to +11, 0, -3. But for this 4G3, all i can do is 0pitch at mid throttle, and to set the both ends pitch, i turn the knob, i have no idea on the v1 and v2, so turning here and there, i come out with -3, +3, 9. But it doesn't wanna to lift off anymore.. and how do u set the idle up pitch? man... i work from 5-10pm, and yet no luck :bawl

First thing I would do is mechanically adjust for 0 pitch in idle up at mid-stick with the swash in the middle of it's travel etc... then follow what Buildem says here - this is the best advice re setting up the 2601TX I have seen

Have you tried adjusting the EXT on the 4 in 1 at all?

yeah, i just happen to saw that post this morning, and i try setting it up at noon. haha... finally able to fly, but i am stuck at the tail setting stage. Full right rudder trim, power up, full left rudder trim, adjusting the mix pot, but somehow in my case, no matter how i turn the rudder pot CCW, it remains the same.. still have to right rudder to counter during setup... but yeah, it airborned.... haha.. crash though.

If the tail isn't holding then something isn't quite right.
Check the gear mesh isn't too loose or too tight - tail rotor should spin easily when you blow on it.
Check the tail rotor shaft isn't bent at all, if it is remove and straighten it.
Also check the bearings for free play - these get damaged easily too
