so hows the power on this thing, can it 3D well or does it bog?
oh and does it have any weird fly characteristics with the huge pipe sticking out the side...i know TIM JONES in the proto-type video was saying that pirouettes felt unbalanced due to the pipe.

Power remains the same for the 6:30 duration of the flight. It 3D very well. I can't feel the pipe but Tim Jones, a much better pilot, states that he can.

would adding a header tank fix the issue?

The header tank is on the one that I crashed.

A header tank comes in the kit and I think you are right that putting it on the opposite side of heli from the pipe should help balance it out. Below is what is included in the kit. (In the bubble wrap is the fan shroud.)

Will james i hope you can weight parts as you do the built and give us a report. I want to do the conversion but have 4 good OR batteries That i hate to lose money on. Like to hear a good compares from Electric to nitro..

yeah +1 the whole idea seems great but if the thing is going to way over 2100 grams there is no way i'll buy it.
t500 already flys heavy enough at 1900 grams.

At full tanks (main and header) plus 2s 2000mAh battery, the 500N (fly bar) weighed in at approximately 2210 grams ... keeping in mind the the constant power of nitro engine doing hard 3D during the 6:30 minutes flight versus the reduce power of battery as the voltage drops.

ahh not bad....does it feel heavy in the air?
i guess i could add 200 grams in lead to my T500(electric) and see how it flys...then ill know!

The opposite. According to the test pilots it felt "lighter" in the air than the 500E.

I hope to get the 500 kit today or tomorrow. Hammer is going to do the frames for me so if it comes today, I will have the frames back tomorrow and be able to start on it shortly there after.

Sorry but i can't see how adding 200gm and running the same head speed and pitch your going to feel lighter.
"keeping in mind the the constant power of nitro engine doing hard 3D during the 6:30 minutes flight versus the reduce power of battery as the voltage drops."
Now i do like the like constant power of my 600n and not having to buy 150.oo batteries for the 500 when they puff or taco one. I wish there was some where better to mount the Rx battery as i see a $30.00 rx battery on every bad crash. maybe a light weight protective Rx battery case. i do see a 500N in my future just not yet..;)

Not the pitch or hs, It is the torque of os37 that design to swing 500 mm blade make the 500N feel lighter in air.. You can't comepare 500e motor to .37 nitro unless you go 10s on your 500e .

OS37 is a 1.4HP engine. Converting that to watts it's 1043W. I'm sure many people are pumping 1000W+ through their 500E's.
So how is a .37 equivalent to 10s? Maybe 10s 500mah. ;) The 500N is still a heavy pig IMO.

8s Scorpion 3026-1210 gives 1700watts peaks, so yes.
