Any idea why my Stratus Fan to the Clutch dont have any gap, is this normal ?
I am using OS91SZ+pump with the SZ engine mount for Stratus. But after reading other post, sounds like you guys have some gap between the engine fan and the clutch. ( Or maybe it is because i dont understand other Thread )
So is there anything wrong with my heli or this is nromal ?

the gap seems to be very small. I would check the bottom plate to make sure it's correct (SZ not c-spec). There are too many threads about this issue.

I had same gap issue with my OS91SZ+pump with the SZ engine mount for Stratus. Had to shim the A frame with brass shim to get the right gap. Maybe the new OS91SZ pumped have a thicker back plate than the standard SZ ?

Also had this problem with my SZH. I replaced the original washer with a thinner one under the fan.

I replaced the washer that goes under the fan with a thinner one. that solved the gap problem for me.

So where do i get the 'washer' ? ( what size ? )
Coz in my country, the sad thing is, there is no shop carring MA, beside ThunderTiger, Hirobo and JR.
I am the only lonely few who fly MA in my country.

O... yar, is it a MUST to have gap ? what if there is no gap at all, what will happen ?

Try starting up your helicopter and let it idle for a few seconds. Then kill the power, and recheck your fan gap. Sometimes when I put mine back together, the gap is either really big or really small. Once I power up the motor and let it idle, everything comes back into place and the gap becomes correct. As long as you have atleast 20 thou you should be fine.

Hmm u said let it idle for a while. But i flew it 2 days back, But it is still the same, no gap.
But those guys was saying i need to change my washer is it ? what size is the washer ?

If the gap is too small and the frames flex a bit during flight
there is a risk of getting rf noise that could result in a lock out.

take out the washer. then look for one that has the same diameter but thinner. you should be fine then. If you flew it as you said, your lucky it didn't lock out on you.

Do you guys mean i change the washer UNDER the base collet ?
Means i dont use the orginal washer come with the engine and go find a thinner one ?

The orginal washer is 0.040 inch ( 1mm )
I tried putting the base collect with out the orginal engine washer and screw the whole thing in. But i notice with out the orginal engine washer, the fan cant 'lock'
So by getting a washer around 0.020inch ( 0.5mm ), will it help to lock my fan and let me have the normal gapping ?
What washer thickness are u all using ?
