Tail boom servo mounting ?

While I am waiting for my gyro and tail servo to arrive I just thought of a question on using the boom mount for the servo instead of mounting it on the frame. I have the plastic frame version 550 and was considering mounting the tail servo on the boom, but here is my dilemma. (= dumb question).
I saw that Readyheli has the servo boom mount, but, what do you use for the control rod?
I didn't see any specific control rod listed for use with the tail boom mounted servo.
Oh, and one more question, what should I get for a voltage 'step-down' for the tail servo (rated at 4.8v only) and where to get it? I am planning on using a 7.4 lipo for the rx with the stock Gaui bec and it says the output is 5.8 volts on it.

align makes a good stepdown that you can buy at your lhs for like 5 bucks

Solder a 1n4001 diode on the red lead
cathode towards the servo.
will drop it .7v

MikeJ, I have the long boom.

Bobby, I don't have any LHS. Actually I have been thinking of opening a hobby shop for this reason. The closest one would probably be in Pittsburgh, about 50 miles away, and certainly NOT somewhere that you would want to drive. The people that live in Pittsburgh don't know how to get to where they are going let alone an outsider.
I get all my parts online.

Or alternatively buy this http://www.readyheli.com/TTRPV0392_Tail_Control_Rod_Raptor_50_p/ttrpv0392.htm - the little cylindrical thing has the two grub screws and allows you to cut the rod to length and join the two parts together.
