Well, I replaced a mid-pack 4p bank of cells in a 4s4p pack ($$$!). Then, on test flights, a completely different bank of 4p cells in the pack would get hot really quickly.
I stripped down the pack tonight, and basically, when I prised the pack apart (very carefully I'll add) the 1st time (to mend it), it seems I managed to snap the thin tabs on about 7 cells in total over two 4p banks!
I had a little play to see how fragile they are, and boy - they are fragile! - Just bending one of the series "pack to pack (+ to - link)" leads can cause the tabs they are connected to to tear off. To work on the pack you have to move each bank apart in the direction of the leads like you are handling a bomb!
I've mended it now - it required a lot of careful soldering with normal, and alu minium/alli solder. Soldering to the snapped stubs required the special solder to get a good contact without generating loads of heat on the cell.
Just so you know - take great care! - I made a lot of work for myself
