I have had this tool for years but every time I do maintenance on my helis I forget to use it.

I think I'll use it on my 2 NIB Panteras.

What grease would be good for these bearings?

My 2 panteras will have:

CSM gyros/hitec HS-6965HB
OS 60 sxh with BBC kits
Snorkels/servo arm supports
A123 Rx batts no step down or regulators for 6v
(4) HS-5625MG servos for throttle and swash

any thoughts on a pipe for a 60? Audacity muffler redrilled to fit 60 engines maybe?

I use the greaser on every build and periodic maintenance when I have something apart.

If you crash often and are constantly replacing bearings...maybe the greaser is not needed...as you haven't put enough time on the bearing to wear it out.

BUT...

If you build it to fly and have minimal maintenance long-term...I'd go ahead and grease the bearings...as what comes from the factory (grease) seems to be lite on some bearings where others have more than enough grease for an initial build.

I've been using the "Heli Lightning Lube" from Boca:

I just use a good automotive high temp bearing grease. Works well.

NAA Blue grease, principally for trailer wheel bearings is pretty good. Synthetic grease works well also.

Thanks! I think I'll step into The Zone and see what they have for autos.

Hey I found (2) 60 size pipes in my secret heli stash!! Must have came with a few old school xcell 60 trades I did 5+ years ago!

Alright!

Do ya'll do your swash bearing also?

Yeah, you have to look in the RC Model Helicopter section ;)

Just remember that once you get all the bearings greased. The left over is going to fly.
Thats a good thing. A bit of 409 on the inside of canopy will clean things up and you know your bearings are a happy camper.

I use the Union 76 grease recommended by Pete's Hobby, who makes "The Greaser."

Automtoive wheel bearing grease is way too thick. This is because it has to deal with the brake temps. Heli bearings are not in close proximity ot brakes.

Boca also has a heli bearing grease.

That will work.
