Looks like where it has rubbed on the back plate. Should be a swirl mark around the back plate also. Looks normal to me.

That bearing also looks like it is getting pretty rusty.
Paul,
This is only 2 gallons on this engine. Don't know why this happen to my other two engine too. I did run dry every time I finished fly. But this one doesn't make sound of bad bearing yet. I still got a set of your ceramic for this bearing. Do you think I need to change it now.

I can't tell from the pic, if that bearing has a metal ball retainer, I would replace it now.
By the time the bearing starts to make noise with a metal retainer, it may have already taken out the piston, ring, cylinder and head.
If that is a plastic retainer, then run it till it starts to make some noise, it is not real far down the road.
Running the engine dry does little to prevent rust as you can see for yourself.
Storing the heli in a dry place does a lot for helping to prevent rust.
I add 1oz of Castor oil to each gallon fuel and this helps a lot to prevent rust.
The other thing that I have seen done that works the best that I have seen is; at the end of the day, disconnect the fuel line from the carb, open the throttle fully and hook up a can of Starrett M1 instrument oil to the carb and give the engine about a 2 second blast while turning over with the starter (do not connect a glow plug).
This will leave a good coat of oil on all surfaces and does not cause any problems with starting the next time out.
I am sure that there are other oils that will work, but I know that WD-40 will NOT work.

Two of my posts do not show up...What's going on with that?
I will change this bearing.

Do the ceramic bearings help against rust or not?
The YS engines are highly prone to rust on the main bearing for whatever reason.
If anybody has an explanation why the YS are worse then other engines..I sure would like to hear about it.

YS aren't any more prone to rust than any other engine. I get just as many complaints from OS users. Ceramic balls willl not rust but the races still can. Stainless steel races are better at resisting corrosion.
