theres 2 flybar kits , one for extreme head , other for tempest head .. u dont need the open tail ; I have a couple and think its a downgrade !!!easier and (almost ) cheaper to replace a broken bevel gear than either of the plastic tail gears in the open box....

The heavy duty clutch upgrade is worthwile along with the one-piece head dampeners if you don't already have those.

If you are looking at trimming the weight down look at a set of carbon frames and a liIon batt system. The only thing is the carbon frames are almost as high as the stratus upgrade.

So I take it that the open tail box helps you not strip the bevel gear in a crash? I know they are pricey from my Vigor CS. What are the gears made of in the enclosed box?

The gears in the closed gear box are steel.
The open tail box gears really do nothing in preventing the crown gear from stripping in a crash. The gears on the open gear box are molded delrin, they are fairly tough.
The MA crown gears are about $23.

Couple of interesting things here.
I had a flybar snap on an older Extreme last year, my worse ever crash.

Anyone know the part number of the new flybar carrier for the Extreme head?

Also, what's the real advantage of the one piece head dampeners over the dual O rings?

flybar carrier 126-105: http://tinyurl.com/nd69z

once piece dampners 0844-12: http://tinyurl.com/q83ze

The dampners are stiffer than the hardest of the o-rings arrangement. And they don't cut themselves to pieces like the o-rings did.

That flybar carrier upgrade is listed as being for the extreme, will it also work on the Expert head, or do I have to change other parts? I was under the impression that the expert and Extreme had the same head on them minus some spindle and bearing differences.

Also, what does the Stratus flybar upgrade net you? Faster response I'm guessing.

The new flybar carrier will work on the 0844-1 CNC head block. This head block is on the Expert, Extreme, Stratus, SE 60.

The new flybar carrier has multi adjustment points. Also the flybar does not ride directly against the inner races of the bearings. The cones on each side extend outward on the fly bar and support it for approx 3 inches. So this stiffens up the fly bar some.

There is also a flybar carrier for the Tempest head. It is the same except the arms on each end are straight across. The arms for the 0844-1 head block are angled on each end. Sort of boomerang shaped.
