Default Go FES? Or not?

I had a trex250 for half a yr now, I've tried all kinds of things but I just couldnt solve the tail issues So I'm now looking at the gaui FES, I havent tried any flybarless helis before, not doing any 3D, just doing some circuits, loops and flips, I wonder if it is a good choice, is it easy to set up? Do I need another tail gyro? Can I go 3s with the esc and motor that comes with the combo?

Sorry for all those questions really appreciate ur help

i would stick with the flyabar if you want to do 3s then you should get a new esc and i beleive you can use the stock motor on 3s with a new pinion, but IMO 2s is plenty of power for 3D

you do not need a tail gyro if you use the stock gu-365, but its a more difficult setup. i sold my 365 and am installing my gyrobot 900 (from heliRND) as we speak. the gyrobots are also 3 axis gyros, so no need for a tail gyro. the only 2 axis gyro, wich requires a seperate tail gyro is the sk-360 which i run on my t-rex 450.

if you have never flown a flybarless heli, then ignorance is bliss. the feel is familure yet different. the sticks i find that its easier to fine tune a flybarless heli and although i have yet to crash a flybarless setup, they are easier to repair.

the vibration issue is a major problem, which is why the set up is more difficult. once they are eliminated, the gyro will preform well.

I don't need it to do piro flips I just want a small heli that can do some slow circuits in my small yard, the simple head looks really attractive to me (much less things to adjust) but I really don't want something that requires endless setup and still don't fly well....

my honest opinion is that if you want to go flybarless on the gaui 200, you need a mini vbar or a gyrobot. The GU365 will work, but IMHO not well enough to make it worth the hassle. I got my heli in late Dec and as of now, am still fiddling with it. With my old flybar version, I would have had 50 + flights already on it.

I have had 2 people help set it up, one of them being one of the best pilots in the world. If you are okay with occasional random crashes from the unit and want to fiddle with it more than a flybarred heli, then go for it.

If you can't solve a simple 250 tail, I predict sorting out the 365 is going drive you off the deep end.

It is not an easy setup and it's very susceptible to a wide variety of factors that make it unhappy.

The tail is particularly finicky and I've yet to get it even as good as the cheapest of the dedicated tail gyros. Any vibration gives it a lot of grief and based on what I've read, getting the 'bounce' out is not possible. It'll never be as good as a logi 2100 for example.

IMHO you should continue to work on your 250. Sounds like you could use a little help from someone more experienced with sorting out little problems. Going to a Gaui FES is jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
