What motor is everyone running? What's the consensus on the Hyperion vs the Hacker? I want to run a 6s setup using 2 T-Rex batteries but may just run 4s. Need to order a motor but I can't decide.

i have seen the EP8 run 6s on the Hacker 10xl/CC45hv, it was insane, the flight time was about 8 minutes though....
the power was really insane, i think only mad people like my friend would try something like that... it was INSANE!!!
did i mention it was INSANE!!!! :D
i dont know abt the hyperion motor...
but if u got 6s, would ALL that power matter? i mean, am sure there is still some reserves!! its more insane than my Avant!!!

The machine I saw Saturday using the 4S Hyperion motorwas a rocket. This is the same setup I will be doing and showing in my vids. Also I will show 3S (2 Trex packs) on a hyperion 3S motor. A friend of mine is building that setup so when it is done I will video it (if he lets me ;) )
Anyway this is going ot be my setup
Hyperion 4S motor
4S 3700 Light Storm 20C pack
Align 75a ESC
This weekend will be my actual testing on this setup so then I can give more real idea of how this will perform vs wathcing someone elses setup.

I'm watching these threads with interest but will need to find appropriate UK sources of equivalent components. Anyone care to post the the specs of the Hyperion motors for me?

I am using a Hacker A30-10XL on 4S. I believe it's basically the same motor as the Hyperion and is slightly cheaper. I know ReadyHeli has them in stock.

RCHover also has the Hyperions in stock and that is where I bought mine. If you want 3S he also has that motor. ReadyHeli also has them in stock last I looked.
Yes my understanding is that the hacker and hyperion are the same motor. So I am told.
The Hyperion 4S 3700 packs I bought from ReadyHeli and that is what I will be using for packs. They fit the Lepton really well.

For those using the Hacker A30-10XL...
What is the top end of your throttle curve and your resulting head speed?
When I put this motor into K.C.'s spreadsheet I get a head speed of over 3100 using the 24t pinion.

Bob can you put a fan on the Hyperion 4s like you can on the A30 ?

I'm worried that 3100 is too much. They really need to get some more pinion choices on the market. If you have any pull with Jeff Green please mention that :)

Darren, I just ordered my Lepton and found the same problem as you.
In the end I found a couple of suppliers here which do Hyperion products in the UK: Robotbirds (http://robotbirds.com/) and BRCHobbies (http://www.brchobbies.co.uk). The Robotbird site has quite a lot of extra details and specs which are very handy.
Unfortunately, I can't find the S3150 servo anywhere on the planet! So it looks like I'll have to go for something else.

Thanks, looks like that is still the motor of choice for plenty (but not rediculous) power at about 2800rpm?

It's got GREAT power! Rediculous power well lwhat your deffinition of that? Could it have even more? Suire I suppose so but I dont see the need.

yep that sounds about right, there is a sencible amount of power that is required to do all the moves comfortably (slighly more power is required by lesser pilots like myself), thats my definiton of plenty of power - ie your average 50 on 15% nitro with a resonable (not cast) muffler.
My definition of rediculous power is something that climbs out like a rocket ship, but doens't really fly any better when you try and do some 3D with it, instead it just smokes it batteries every 10 flights. Great for those shoe ponies out there, but not really practical for someone that wants to fly daily.

they look way too big, anything over 200g and 700w is not really practical IMHO

here are two more options I have been looking at, any thoughts?
1.mega RC 600/30/5 kv 890 185 grams 36 mm diameter
2.Neu 1905/2.5y kv 865 181 grams ( :arggg: it looks like this motor is way too wide at 49mmm)
nothing against the hyperion motor, I just want to explore my options first.
