Got a used 3DMP from Germany via Sweden, as there is a looong waiting time for a new one.

All I can say after two flights today is that it is the best flying and performing 50 size heli I have owned so far, and the design is pure eye candy.

3,4 kg with a TP 10S4000ma Pro-Lite battery and a UBEC.

The noise level is as low as it can be, the fuel flow is very low, need more flights to know for sure what it is. The flight characteristics and general handling of this heli is very good, canīt really feel any distinct difference so far with this MFS rotorhead compared to "normal" rotorheads.

I think every heli designer should have a Henseleit heli at home, just as a reminder of how brilliant a heli can be designed :-).

:D The Henseleit 3DMP is a collectors item, the first and original MP heli. I should put this piece of art into a bank box as it will only increase in value every day.

Bobby, I have a converted Rappy 50 with the green 3D paddles you can have and play with, was that something of interest ;-)

They sure are a joy to fly, Mines bought my flying along no end :D

Simple clean design with minimal part's count, it really is the purest designed heli currently out there. Love it to bit :glasses:

I really wouldnt trust the UBEC on there, even the Kontronic BEC has been known to shut down and Jan does not recomend using one wihout having the normal RX pack in parralel as a back up. I just fly with the std Rx packs, I get two 9 minute flights out of an Rx pack.

A lot of things can go wrong with a heli with and without a RX battery, and itīs an old discussion if a BEC in general is safe or not....a lot of arguments against and for...but to do a long story short then a RX battery might be a little less unsafe.
But so far I have hundreds of safe flights with this specific BEC brand, so until I change my mind the advantages with the UBEC is still too big for me to go for a RX battery on my 50 heliīs.

pdc,

unfortunately the 3dmp has a very fundamental flaw in the tail, i figured a way to retrofit a joker tail rotorhub and still use the 3dmp tail blade grips,

http://www.k2shots.com/rcgroups3dmp/IMG_9152.jpg

it almost looks like it was designed that way

we had quite the chat in the henseleit section over on runryder in regards to the problem take a look see here,

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t259728p1/

and this one had more details on the completed parts list and everything to do it yourself,

http://runryder.com/helicopter/t267784p1/

many other 3dmp flyers have had the same problem, the tail rotorhub is the same design as the old xcells, a non shouldered bolt acts as both the shaft and the bolt to hold the blade grip on, not to mention theres not even 3mm of thread holding the whole thing into some very soft aluminum.... the hub just gives way and the blade grip will come flying right off(oh joy)

but that aside this is right on par with my joker, the two helicopters compliment each other most excellently, in my opinion they cover all aspects and characteristics any r/c helicopter could!

What if you used longer. shouldered bolts to hold the grips on?
Is there no fixing the mp tail?

hey mike sorry i didn't get your email till just recently(i was finishing work up on the 3dmp)

longer shoulderd bolts would help alot, but the chance of the threads just stripping is still rather likely, it places all of the lateral load load right onto that bolt, which over time will aggrivate it and it will simply slip, now robbe's and the joker, the hub has the shaft for the bearings and it just rides on that and then a bolt is used just for the purpose of holding on the blade grip(as it should just be doing)my 3dmp is fine with the joker hub and i think it looks better too :D
