hey guys..
recently traded my Tex 250 rtf for a supposedly rtf 450 v2...well lets just say the 450 wasnt quite rtf...needs a lot o work..jr285s fior cyclic..401..and jr3400 on tail...tail is ok..belt is good..430xl motor..not sure about pinion...Ar6000 Rx..DX6 TX...
would it be possible to bind Ar6000 with my Dx6i??..I have read different posts on how sometimes they bind, and sometimes they dont...
all the settings in TX are wiped out..I have no idea how..Is there a link to program ALL settings for this set-up??..
I am beginning to believe I got the worst ened of this deal.....oh yeah..head was missing one thrust bearing..had to order all new head parts...
thanks...John

Hey John,
the 450 setup sounds fine. Advice I would give after buying several used helis is to pull the whole thing apart and rebuild from scratch following the finless videos in the sticky section of this forum. You cant rely on the previous owner having setup and maintained the heli properly. Also going through the finless vids you will learn more about this heli and go through the radio gyro and ESC programming.
not sure about the DX6 and AR6000 as I use a DX7.
the 450SEV2 is a great heli IMHO.

thanks...entire heli is apart..i have been going through all Finless vids..those vids are priceless..just cant seem to find the proper TX settings...Fin uses alot of different TX setups...Seems I am a bit better at buils, than i am at the programming end....

Here's something from Horizon which states that the DX6i is backwards compatible with the AR6000. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles/Article.aspx?ArticleID=1725
Haven't tried that combination since I used the AR6200 that came with my DX6i.
You mention both the DX6 and the DX6i in your post. Are you planning to use the DX6 or the DX6i? If you need some help with programming this is an important detail.

thanks...and yes i also have a DX6i for my B400..however the Rx for the 400 is still in heli..not sure if I want to remove RX from 400 ....and you are right..I need all the help i can get with the programming end..I found a website for a 450Se setup...not sure if its a basic set-up or what..but its kind of a walk through for the basics...

The term backwards compatible usually denotes that one of the items is newer with new features and is still compatible with the older item.

got it..understand it now..thanks
now for the latest problem..installed all servos, working on travel and center..and I encountered this problem..when testing servos..the two front servos, one was not working..so i started a bit o trouble-shooting..thought maybe 1 servo was fried..swapped plugs in RX..now the one i thought was bad worked..not it turns into a real head scratcher...
I thought maybe the reciever was bad...bound a new 6000 reciever..same thing, one servo works, one doesnt..swapped connections again..same thing..one servo works..could it possibly be the gear channel on both RXs are bad...
elevator and tail servo work fine..all travel adjustments in TX are set at 100%...0 gain..0d/r.....any help with this one will be greatly appreciated....by the way radio is a DX6....RX is a 6000...thanks

well I found the problem...the DX6 that came with heli is worthless...could not program it past the N/R menu...radio locked up...bound my old DX6 that I used for an older 450xl to the v2 reciever..problem solved..this radio is on its way back to Horizon....funny thing ,I spent an hour on the phone with em to figure it out..first rep told me it was a reciever problem..so I bound another 6000,which was brand new...same problem...called back got a different rep..said pack it up and ship it back..maybe I will stick it in the yard and plant bushes around it...or ...make a really neat ashtray out of it...dont mind me...I just have this terrible love-hate relationship with this hobby....
Thanks for the help...

Exactly. The DX6i supports the newer DSM2 protocol, but it is also "backwards compatible" with the original DSM protocol used by the AR6000 and the DX6.
This allows someone who started with a DX6 and AR6000 to upgrade to a DX6i or DX7 and not have to replace the Rx.

You could always sell the DX6 and AR6000 and buy a AR6100 or AR6200 so that you could use the DX6i for both the B400 and the 450.
You might actually find this helpful since the settings and the programming steps for the B400 and the 450 will be similar since both are CCPM 120 deg helis.
If I recall correctly, the Finless CCPM videos explain how to change the settings if the swash servos aren't all moving in the correct directions. Even though he's showing a Futaba radio, the concept of when to change from - to + on the swash vs. using the channel reversing is the same for both Tx. This was the least intuitive part of the programming process for me the first time. It would have been much easier if I had found Helifreak and seen the videos first.
Similarly, the video for the 401 gyro explains how to get the reversing in the Tx and on the gyro correct. Getting this right before the first spin up is pretty important.
