does the engine crank have to cut for the stratus like the extreme?

The engine crank does not have to be cut in any of the MA models. At least none of the engine crankshafts on the OS 61WC, OS 91's or YS 61ST's thru 91 ST's. I have ran all those engines in Pro's, Fury's and Tempest's and never cut the crankshaft. Stratus uses same fan hub and clutch system, so it will not have to be cut either.

ok i see in the manaul where if you use the wrong spacers the crank might have to be cut.

Could you tell me where in the manual that it mentions anything about cutting a crank shaft?

fury extreme manaul for kit # 1020-5 & 1021-5 80-90 size. page 41 very top paragragh. " if it will not fully press in place,then crankshaft must be shortened accordingly or you have used the wrong washers

Yeah I see that in the Extreme manual. There is no reason to cut off a crankshaft on the YS or OS engines. Maybe a Webra or Enya or some other brand. But I really don't know anyone using those engines anymore in helis here in the USA. If an OS or YS has to be cut off, something is assembled incorrectly.

a friend of mine had bought 2 91 from a person abouut 3 years ago that was in his furys. well both cranks where cut. he told him that was the way they were suppose to be for the fury. i just bought a fury and going to convert to stratus. thats the reason for asking. thanks for the help.

He must have bought them from John Benario. John use to cut the cranks when he was flying Fury's. For what reason I don't know. I have never cut the crankshaft to mount in any MA heli.

they probaly came from john to begin with. he got them from kam wyatt.

They could have. John may have told Kam the crankshafts had to be cut off. They both were flying MA at the same time. Kam is flying MA again now.
