What Lens?

Ok Guys, I finially got a camera on the way and now I am needing to know what the masses think about lenses. I talked with a pro photographer yesterday and he told me to get a 19-35. He said it would give a good wide angle without any distortion.

So, What do you think I should use. It will be going on a Canon 10D
