Just wanted to see if anyone knows if its possible to boomstrike a stock setup stratus. I set mine up exactly as per manual. Middle position on flybar carrier. +10 / -10 collective and 7 degrees cyclic.
I have Radix 710 Blades stock O ring dampners (not one piece) and OS91SZP, Futaba 9252's all round at 6v on Arizona reg.
The reason i ask is I have been practicing rainbow tic tocs with hard collective stops on Reflex XTR and almost allways it boomstrikes when changing from Positive to negative pitch and end of the rainbow. I am wondering if I try this on my model if this will happen ?
Im just learnign 3D so dont trust that i know not to put sticks in corners at wrong time.

Chris

It is possible to Boomstrike a stratus.. any helicopter Can...
But the stratus will not boom strike easily, Eric larsons stratus is pretty much stock.. and henry caldwells
i am pretty shaw you will be safe  ...
Don't worry mate.. hehe..a stock stratus has Very tight head dampning you will not boom strike doing that moneuver trust me, if you want try not to be too harsh on collective ..
Cheers

Btw also with 10 degrees both ways you should Deff be safe doing that moneuver.

yup, you CAN boomstrike the stratus.
Run your headpeed high, use hard damnpers, and tighten the crap out of the blades should minimize the chances..

What headspeed is suggested on stratus for someone learning 3D ? I have a revmax with a flatline throttle curve so can dial headspeed to whatever is required.

1750 is good for idle up 1, 1800 up to your comfort level for idle up 2.

what engine and gear ratio are you running? To me that would determine what headspeed to run.
I would definately have a backup t-curve in case the revmax failes?

Im running OS91SZP with Hatori 938 pipe and 8.18
I set my stunt 2 mode to have a normal V curve in case of problem with Governor.

It is possible but highly unlikely. Boom strikes happen due to blade stall and high G loading like doing an inverted pullout from a terminal velocity tail slide and snapping right into piroflips. Tons of negative and lots of cyclic at the same time is not great. Also if the motor sags some at that point it is very bad. Collective and cyclic control are important with the amount of power we have today.
