You guys better be nice to this new guy, Dakine....
He may just be learning fly a chopper.... but he's a WHIZZ at video editing. I know he has more editing systems than ABC!

TC,
I ain't no whiz at editing yet, I just own the hardware :D
But, I'm beginning to like the video and editing stuff more and more. What makes it more fun is owning the right hardware. HD is still a pain in the a$$ though. What makes the work flow faster is shooting with my Panny 200P with the P2 cards. To import 25 minutes of HD video, it takes only about 2 - 3 minutes. This makes shooting and downloading more fun as opposed to having to sit and wait 25 minutes while it's 'capturing'.
Yo Brett,
You signature photo looks very familiar to me
Looks like this forum is picking up, especially with DJ's posts. Thanks all for being nice to a newbie :)

even with all the fancy $hit I have at work I can't pull that one off.... I gotta sit and wait in real time.
I can't wait until we make the full switch over to HD. Right now we're 50/50 and it's a pain in the rear.

Hey TR,
When I shoot corporate stuff with my JVC I use DVRack with the HD pack and then I have no wait.......HD realtime right from acquistion.  Direct to Drive baby and the tape is just a back-up. Oh yeah, I can do 4 streams of RT HD in the field with my Laptop :glasses: :glasses: And don't forget where you heard about Edius....I got a look at GV's version 4 of Edius Pro......Kicks A$$!

DJ,
Tell your boss to get you a couple of "Firestore" HD field recorders. Mount them right on the back of the bauer bricks and then you'd have the direct access with the tape being needed only as a back-up....pretty rutine stuff out on the east coast.
Gets the work out quicker.

Anthony

I just don't know how I would get that material into the Flint/Smoke. I need to call Autodesk and see what they say.
Flint/Smoke is amazing but it's so damn proprietary that it's hard to integrate into the normal workflow.

Anthony,
What's Edius? I've never heard of it. Can you buy a copy at Best Buy? :D :D :D
Kidding, I love both.....Final Cut Pro and Edius. Yes, in that order. :D :D :D
$hit, I'm up to four P2 cards already.....damn $5,000 worth. Firestore will be next. Just lazy and didn't want to carry another 2 lbs on the camera.
Thank god I'm not in the market for the highend stuff like DJ is working on. I can't afford to play with the big boys. I'm happy where I'm at. Still learning.
