I was checking to see if there is any aftermarket CF main blades that will fit on the Lepton. The Stock ones are good but for $80 I was checking to see if there are better options out there or any in the works?

MS makes a set of 420mm carbons. Not sure if the root and bolt hole are the right size or not though.

Bob I found a set of 68mm cf tail blades for sale. Will these be to big to run on the tail?

Well, you may be the forst to try them but for sure you will want to extend your tail fin AND you may have to raise the heli off the skids as you dont want to have the tail fin hit the ground.

If I had those right nowe in my hands I would test them for sure. They look like a good blade. Only question would be will they fit in the grips att he roots?

Yesterday I tried a set of Align carbon tail blades and they did improve the tail a bit because they are stiffer than the stock plastic ones. BUT while I still had not got my throttle curves perfected, when I let a hot 3D pilot fly it he said the tail still blew out..... Monday I will be doing more testing with the Align CF blades and I should have my throttle curve set best as possible. I ran out of time yesterday to get it perfect.

I will order a set and see if it fits. I have the extended fin set coming from MJP and that should give me enough clearance I hope.

Ms 420 root is 6mm and bolt hole 3mm.

Well after a bit of time on the stock blades. I am in no hurry to get any other blades. The stock ones really fly pretty good. I have even been pushing them to 3000 rpm w/o problems.

Still it will be nice to get a good set of carbon blades like SAB or V-s for it.

I am with ya on the stock blades but $80? OUCH in a crash and thank God in about 30 flights so far I havent dumb thumbed it :)
Actually I am begining to like flying this thing MORE than my little Trex which is dangerous because I tend to push harder on that little thing. I will be bummin the first time I crash it as I BET it will be about $200 to fix including blades :motz

I've got two sets of the MS blades and I just machined a set of shims for it, so I'm ready.

What did the MS blades run?
And Terry it is not fair you can just whip out shims like that and rub it in our faces ;)

So have you flown the thing yet?

No, I haven't flown it yet. I'm due on Sunday. I have to work tomorrow and I have the frame spacers to drill and tap and I'm done. The MS blades are ready to bolt on and so are the 68mm tails. BTW, the 68MM tails look like a direct bolt on. I haven't taken them out of the package yet but they have a 2mm bushed hole in them and they look good.

The MS blades were around $58.00/set.

I got two pair just in case.

Terry... knowing you as I do and knowing you are a Hirobo nut (as I am too)... I am surprised you are not flying this stock FIRST!

Based on changes you made so far you have no yard stick to tell us your experience and honestly..... I would have liked to hear your opinion STOCK before flying with other blades and mods.... Sorry but I really would have liked to have heard your opinion of the stock bird :(
We all don’t have the luxury of making our own parts......
For instance as I pointed out about the linkage hits in the head based on the hirobo addendum... Did you do anything there? PLEASE share bud?

OK, I am going to fly the machine stock with the stock blades first, the stock fins and the stock tail blades. I'm not experiencing any binding so I didn't do anything there. I checked the head per my usual procedure and with -11 to +11 I can pull the cyclic sticks into the corners and I don't feel any binding in the head when I rotate the head by hand and this is with the swash at full negative and positive and all through the range. I don't use a lot of cyclic in my machines.

I still have to make a pushrod guide to add to the tail rod so it doesn't whip but that won't take long.

I'll let you know how the stock machine flies.

I am running 68mm Cf tailblades from the Robbe Spirit.
way more tail authority!!!
Especially if you don`t like high headspeed in idle up, like me

There are 75mm tailblades available from BBT and MAH.
combined with a GY 611, this will be the solution to a close to perfect tail feeling.

if you have a cnc and a buddy who knows to draw what your thinking, then there is a longer tailfin prepared for 75mm blades :D

You have a part number or web site that sells the 68mm blades?

Bob,

i`ll have to ask my buddy, this evening.
He has a brandnew Spirit SE kit at home. There are some blades in a original bag inside. This will tell us the original robbe part number.

Those on the photo are used, from his Spirit LE and don`t have a number on it.

I know a LHS here, carrying them. But no idea if he will sell to oversea.
Will ask him if he`s interested.

more to come...

Bob, John at ReadyHeli has the 68mm cf tail blades in. I just got a couple sets in and I am going to install them this weekend and hopefully see how they go.

I agree. Although the stock blades fly awsome I am not willing to pay $80 for fiberglass blades.

Yep agree.... you can get 600mm Radix for close to that!

Hopefully someone will make some carbons but based on this forum and other forums it doesnt look like this heli is getting that popular..... I guess it is the price but I gotta say of all my Electrics this is turning into my FAVORITE electric heli thus far. The more I fly it the more I love it. I think it is the perfect size, it's faster than HELL, and power to weigth ratio just plain ROCKS!

Now the only thing I would like to figure out how to improve is it FLIP (or elevator) rate. It rolls FAST but flips are slower in relation. I can get use to that but this was typical of my Freya too.... I am thinking of droping the mast to the upper hole as a test and increasing my swash on elevator....

Anyway I WANT STIFFER CARBON BLADES :)

Bob
