Hi all,
I'm thinking of a 4s Lepton build, but I don't have much experience of different makes of esc's. When I bought the two brushless motors that I have I took the easy route and just bought the matching esc as recommended by the manufacturer.
But now I'm looking for an esc to match to the Hyperion/Hacker motors. I understand all the theory, kv's etc. Can't get KC's spreadsheet working on my mac, so I thought I'd just ask you wise people for some recommendations?
Castle Creations seem to get plenty of mentions, any thoughts?

I am using the Align 75 ESC as it should be PLENTY good and it's $95.
Jack was using a CC80 and it also worked good.

Bob,
Thanks for the prompt reply, I guess the 4s setup essentially trades bigger volts for less amps over the 3s setup (at same rotor loading) and as I haven't decided for sure whether to go 3s or 4s as I'm still quite a heli novice I think the CC80 would be a better bet. Less than $15 difference here in UK.

You will see 2 vids in about 15 minutes showing both a 4S and a 3S setup.
Stay tuned but they will be posted in my forum just under the Lepton build vids.

I am running the 2amp with HS85MG's but when igo to digital servos for cyclic (if I do) then I will go to the 3.5 amp.

Thank everyone, I think the CC80 will be the way to go. It has BEC and I kow you can use it 3S, but can you still use the BEC at 4S?
Bob, just watched the electronics video and noticed the Align esc. Lookf forward to the next installment any time now

I am told for the 3.5 amp to make sure you put a ferite ring on the line ot the RX as the 3.5 amp is a bit noisier. Least thats what I heard.

The CC80 bec is a 3 amp bec and will work fine with 4 cells.

I am using the Jazz 80-6-18 and recommend it. It comes with a 4amp BEC, so no need for an external one.
I picked one up from a company in Austraila for around $200 USD. You cant beat that price anywhere.
