My Lepton went in pretty hard today. It was about 30' feet up and I got a PCM lockout. It fell straight down and landed up right on the skids. Amazingly enough no boom strike or anything. At first it looked like no damage at all. Closer inspection revealed the skids were broken and sadly the carbon frame broke in 2 places near the battery mount. I plan on repairing it with carbon scraps and JB Weld but I'm wondering if this is not a weak area in the frame. The breaks occured right between the 2 battery mounting plates where the frame is not as wide.

Looking at the frame this is EXACTLY where I expected it to break. I which they had made that 2 piece so it could be replaced up to the metal tray. Hmmmm might be a good mod actually with 3rd party lower pieces.

Ask and we shall receive :D

I just found out that Mark at MJP Carbon is making replacement frames. Price and thickness has not been set but he said the price will be much better than the Hirobo replacements. He also said there will be reinforcement in the key areas. Now all we need is someone to come up with better alternatives the the main shaft and main gear.

If you can tell him to make the lower portion BOLT onto the upper portion right in front of the motor. There is even an excess bolt hole on both sides of the frame right in that spot.

If it helps I can take a photo and show the idea.

This way we dont have to rebuild the entire heli when just the lower portion breaks.

Also we need after market main shafts, booms, blades, and spindles if he does all that stuff :)

So there... I am asking.... Lets receive :)
