I have been doing a lot of research on this topic but I still can't decide what to go with , power or efficiency , or right down the middle, any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated :arggg:

OK so i tried a new motor today it's the ultralfy c/13/33h , it is an 8 pole motor ,3350 kv , 200 watts , 50,000 max rpm and only weigh's 45.5 grams , with the Helli strapped down running 2600 rpm , and then to full pitch +11 rpm drops to approx 2400 , runs pretty strong for a less expensive motor . plus it has a built in cooling fan , I started this topic to see what motors people have tried and like myself this motor out performs the stock motor by leaps & bounds

I run a align 430l 3550 and otter 35esc. Installed a 11t pinion and get great flight out of it. Sorry I didnt get to you sooner. Sounds like you got a good motor too. I also run a 2200 12c lipo and have changed the tail to cf boom align cnc tailbox and trex se carbon tailblades. The helimax motor in the mx400 pro set is a joke, I bought a plain x400 (eru distrabution of the mx400) and have put some trex parts on as mods.

I use the stock HeliMax 6 pole motor (2580Kv) and stock HeliMax 25A ESC. I am also a beginner though :). Anyone know what to expect with this motor? As long as I can do inverts I will be happy because that is about all I expect to learn within a year or so. I am currently only hovering.

I have my Idle-Up pitch setup as -10/+10 and Idle-Up pitch curve setup as 0/50/100 and Idle-Up throttle curve setup as 100/60/100. I know this is not an optimal setup for 3D but does anyone know what pitch and throttle curve will work best to keep the RPMs around the same for the default motor? I do not have a tach so I am hoping someone else has the stock motor and knows what to setup the pitch and throttle curve to for non 3d flying.

Im runing same pitch and a 100 90 100 thrtl curv but that is on a differant setup. im runing a head speed of about 2900 in idle up, dont have a tach so its by math.

Hi,
I know this tread is old but I also have a question. I am considering to buy an MX400 and I would like to know what do you think about the motors and ESC available on ebay for 10$ http://tinyurl.com/2qc6wl (http://tinyurl.com/2qc6wl).. Would these work?. I really need to work the cheapest kit possible. (to make a point and also because Budget wont permit anything else:o). By the way I am new to the hobby and this forum ROCKS!!

Thank you,

Thank you,

With ebay sellers selling things, its kinda a 50/50 situation. You can get a great motor and esc or it can be total crap. Remember that you get what you pay for...Also if you get a FREE sim and buy a sim cable, It will save you tons of money on your actual heli...Its not as easy as it seems to fly and a sim will save you a lot of money on your heli.

still have the stock helimax esc 40amp, but the electrifly ammo 2700kv motor my ultimate combo came with just shat the bed a few days ago. i found another ammo with the same dimentions but is 3600kv. i installed that with a 12t pinion and this thing sure has some pop now. almost too much i think. i've got the 11t pinion too so i'll have to try that.

If you could let us know from the 11t or 12t pinions which is a best fit for your 3600kv.

Thanks

i just tried the 11t in the garage. too low of a hs with that. 12t is the sweet spot as far as i can tell, but i don't have a 13t to test yet.
