8S switch

I'm considering going 8S soon from 6S. In part bc I think I'm gonna get a Compass 600e and going to run 8S 4200 packs on it.

What would I need to change on my Outrage 550 to suit this? Currently running 9252s, Scorpion 4020-1100 and Castle HV 85.

Also, if I start running 8S 4200 on it with a particular setup, could I still go back to the 6S 5000 packs without switching motors?

I'm not sure about the math but the speed controller and motor should be fine on 8S but you will have to regear the pinion or the HS will be dangerous. You will have no issue with going back and forth between 6S and 8S but you will have to change the pinion.

we changed to a 910 Scorpion on the 8S and still running the Scorpion 1100 on the 6S, both with Catle HV85's

You will be fine using the 4020-1100 on 8s. Just use a smaller pinion. That's what I'm using and it's simply crazy the power to weight ratio.

Foxden, If you guys ever decide to try both motors on 8s as a comparison that would be great.
