Hello Everybody,
As Dennis said I flew the Rex 600 tonight with fantastic results!!! The first flight was not perfect but after some looking and tuning it came to life. It looks like Align did there home work with this one, the complete control feel is very much like what I am used to when flying the Ion-X, Dennis’s model is bone stock and I see nothing obvious that needs changing, I ran the model very hard to see if it would break or over heat and it just took it all in stride.
As Dennis said I have my own Rex 600, but what he did not say is that I have ended my long affiliation with Min Air and will be flying not for any one manufacture but for Dennis at DeeTee Enterprises from hear on. We will have some video in the next couple of weeks and I will share more as I gain more experience with the model.

I see now after a very hard 6 minuet flight the 4400 battery took 4244 AH, this is the Align 4400 6s2p. The batt must be pretty good as it was still pushing hard when I gave it up at 6 minuets, however this is not enough margin so I will be backing down to 5 minuets in the future and will be weighting to see an 8 to 10 minuet battery soon. I found the 4400 and 4200 to be very similar the 4400 having a slight edge in performance and about 10 degrees less heat.
We also had a Raptor 50 on the table side by side with the T-Rex and the Rex ready to fly was lighter then the Raptor by a very noticeable margin, it flew a lot better to!

My Trex 600 weighs 3.1Kg ready to fly, my Raptor 50 weighs 3.7Kg tanks dry, this may explain why the Trex feels more boyant on the same blades.

That's awesome! I don't have my 600 yet, but I can already tell from all of the videos and other accounts of flying the 600 that it's a heli that is going to be hard to beat.
Bring it on, e-raptor! ;)

Yes on both counts!

Russ, what are you running for full pitch range? Seems strange Align is suggesting +9/-9 as on most my other 50 sized nitros I run 12/12..... You certainly CAN get 12/12 out of this thing. I am not saying you will be there much but for quick pops and such is 12 or even 11 going to be too much? 9/9 just seems to low to me?

Dennis said his was 9 & 9, I would say it will handle more just to get the initial yank your looking for then as the model picks up speed you’ll have to back out some, just like any other model.

Welcome aboard Russ.
In case you all did not know Russ. He showed up at one of our FunFlys a bunch of years ago at Brooks, Oregon with an off brand of helicopter, that ran kinda nasty, and sounded even nastier. His flying skills he came with were only learned over a few months time before we all met him. He about knocked everybodies socks off by placing very well in a 3D contest with that nasty running machine. I forget what it was now.
Ever since then, Russ has most of us hanging around just to watch him do his 3D routines. His skills since we met him has dramtically improved to the point to where he can compete with some of the best. His style of 3D flying is not the "Ballistic" - "Do Everything You Can To Rip The Blades Off In The Sky" style of 3D. But, a rather more conservative, smooth, in complete control, and still doing everything that most other highly skilled pilots can do.
Russ takes immaculate care of his equipment, and it lasts for long periods of time being consistant from flight to flight. Russ is also one of the only pilots that I have met over 20 years that logs every single flight in a note book.
It truly is a pleasure to have Russ as our "Western USA Field Representative". Looking forward to a fun future together with these very cool Align RC products.
Hang in there for links to Russ's T Rex600 videos coming here soon.

Hey, its a pleasure Russ.
If anyone wants to see Russ's flying style, and get an idea of what his capability is going to be with upcoming T Rex600 videos, here is a link to a WMV showing Russ flying his T Rex 450 Custom SE. You will get the idea:

Or even a ceiling fan if it had a receiver and a few servos on it<G>.
Seriously though, Russ is one these guys that we all envy that seems to have a natural tendency to fly danged good. When the numbers of us all are put together, he is in the envied minority.
Building you up Russ.

I saw russ at brooks just this last time and I hope to see him fly that 600 in september if he is there. "hint hint" If that 600 flys like you say it will be more impressive then that ion. At brooks I was torn the 600 looked good but power plant was not settled yet one week ago I was set on the hirobo lepton, in the last 3 days due to bob, dennis, and criag out here in the beav Its set to the 600. Oh ya dennis I might bring my x400 to brooks in sept and at my skill level will probly need parts once or twice. see ya at brooks.

We will all, including Russ, be at the Snohomish RC Helicopter FunFly first weekend next month for an early preview of Russ flying the T Rex600 for all. By that time, there may be a few more there.
This event is put on by Cascade Model Helicopter Club - Everet, Washington. Todd Bennet and Jason Krause will be there as well.
Here is a link to a flyer for that event:

hello my friends from the northwest... I made that video of Russ!! I am proud to know Russ and Dennis, they are both great guys and super helpful. I miss everybody dearly. Dennis congrats on convincing Russ to help you out and become a Team pilot. I cannot say enough good things about Russ, he has been a major influence in helping me get to the point I am at with my flying. (and my timing is finally getting back to where it was before my wrist surgery) I am looking forward to fall Brooks, I plan on being there and covering it for the magazine (RC Heli). I have seen many of the best pilots out there fly in person, and the more I see, the more convinced I am that Russ is absolutely one of the best pilots period. He flies with such precision its scary! I will never forget the inverted autos with a knife edge piro at the end...and he would do it again and again in the same spot every time!!! Russ you are one of the all time greats in my book!!!!!! :noteworthy

the T-REX 600 will be reviewed, we have the kit and it will probably make it into the next issue. and yes we are a pretty tight knit group. Before I got into helis I was afraid guys would have an elitist attitude and I would not be accepted (I had faced this before as a youth with some fixed wing groups) but in reality, heli guys turned out to be extremely helpful and friendly, and it holds true almost 100% of the time!

when I said the 600 will be reviewed in the next issue, let me clarify, issue 6 (aug/sep) is already off to the printer, and we are working on issue 7 which is when the 600 will probably make its appearance. Keep your eyes out for us, we are going monthly in the first quarter next year!
