Well i took the heli out again today, all was decently calm, but for safety sake i strapped on the training gear, fired it up and attempted my first hover in real life. First things first, Realflight helps, but by no means is it close to a real heli.

Heres what ive noticed in flight, I constantly have to hold the tail to the right to keep it from spinning left, Is this my gyro being not senitive enough, and not giving enough correction? Or is this the facts of a non heading hold gyro, and some wind? Sometimes the heli would stay put for a little bit, but I think either after i give some tail input or the gyro has to correct for something big, is starts to spin.

Also it seems the heli is reall hard to control in very low hover, is this the ground effect messing with me? Higher up, i think its still out of trim, but even with some kinda gusty winds, maybe like 15mph, i could keep it same spot for some time.

But all in all, i hovered through 2 tanks, the engine is running rich as hell, and seem to burn alot of fuel.

And best off all no broke parts, just 1 scary moment when i was bring it backwards back towards me. I got it going alittle to fast. with a tail rotor spining and coming right at you it gets scary. I just gave it forward cyclic and cut the collective

Im a noob to but I might be able to help a little. I have a friend with a Rap 30 and non HH gyro you need to adjust your trim or your tail control rod to compensate for having to hold the rudder stick. You should in calm winds be able to take your hands off for a few seconds. I found that my heli is quite a bit touchier close to the ground then in the air so I would say thats probably why it seems more of a handful. Until you get a gallon of fuel though it, its going to feel like a handful anyways. If its rich and the head speed is slow it is extremely hard to control and fly! I learned this at first to with my hawk.

well went back out again today, burnt up the last of my gas, maybe some progress i would say.

had the 401 in it, and on the second time i was hovering nice and low the gyro shut off again, and started spinning. I cut the colletive and landed, no damage. i had 3 layers of servo tape holding the 401 on and it still shut off. I then ripped the pos out, and put the century back in it. Got the century dialed in, and was doing some hovering circles and figures 8s. Also was hoving with the heli sideways or 90 degrees, working towards nose in.

Then next tank i went for forward flight. just kinda got it going pretty fast, turned it around and brought it into a nose in hover, nice and high. Did the twice was nervous as hell and had to land. When i took of from a hover to forward flight, i notice the engine seems to bog down, and the headspeed seems to drop alot form my perspective. So after almost a gallon throught the engine we decided to lean it out a bit. But after we lean it out, it did something with the speed or gyro, and the gyro couldnt hold the tail in one spot. I had to constantly hold the tail. With that issue i didnt do any more forward flight.

ideas? am i just not sensitive enought, it seems when i do kick the tail over, it just wants to keep going. It got a gain switch, but when i had it at 100% is didnt seem to help, should i increase the pot. on the gyro?

and im sending that 401 to futaba once i get some money, cause when i was hovering alittle with it, i love that heading hold stuff, the 401 is like jesus
