No crashes yet so not sure why this happened.
I had just powered up and had just lifted off to about a 1 foot hover (fortunately). I was just about to give some throttle when I heard a terrible grinding noise and then the engine overspeeded. The heli dropped down to a soft landing and I cut engine power. I looked at the heli and noticed that just about every tooth was removed from the main gear (the plastic gray gear).
Any ideas why this would happen?
Thanks
Gary

you may have not had the teeth meshed right when you put it together would be my first thought, had this happen to me many time with the rc cars.

I had one do the same thing only it was about 30 feet in the air. I sent the damaged gear to Dave at Gohbee but he found nothing wrong with it. I had thought maybe they had a gear issue. You might drop him a note on the Gohbee forum. You can also see my post on the same problem. There is no adjustment on these gears so its not a matter of poor assembly.

An issue with the 30 main gear was apparent year before last. you may have gotten one of the old ones. meshing should be tight to "wear in" but only to a point.

I have flown about 4 gallons through this heli with no problems. Just wondering why it would let loose all of a sudden.
Thanks again,
Gary
