What does it mean when a charger says it will charge lead acid batteries. Is that like my car battery? Do I just hook it up to my car battery like charging a nicad? my MRC 977 says it will charge 12 volt lead acid but doesn't go into detail on how to actually do it.

Thanks

Rob

I'm surprised your manual didn't give you some detail. Here's an excerpt from my 969 manual about lead-acid:

"We recommend using a charge rate of no higher than 0.2 times the capacity of the battery. (example for 7AH battery the charge rate = 0.2 x 7 or 1.4 amps) Also, use a peak threshold setting of 5mV."

My 969 has been updated to the 977 firmware, so I'm certain your settings should be identical.

okay, so you just use the normal settings, there is no special setting like there is for lipo then? Wouldn't that mean any charger could charge lead acid? And is lead acid a car battery? Can I peak charge my car battery?
