View Full Version : AR7100R or stock governor?

Hey all,
I had ordered an AR7100 for my T700 and was planning on using the stock governor that came with the kit.
However the AR7100 was out of stock...so now I'm thinking of getting the AR7100R and not use the stock governor....
Which option would be better? Rev limiter on AR7100R or standard AR7100 with stock Align governor?
Thanks,
Skarn

basicly the same thing, both the align and spectrum are rev limiters.
The 7100 r will simplify the wiring a bit.
On my build i put a new end on the align sensor and pluged it into the ar7100r. Makes for a clean wiring job

Huh? Are you sure the Align is a Rev limiter? I have not tried setting a flat 100 throttle curve on the Align Gov to see if it works, but that is how I run on the 7100R Rev limiter.

the Align gov is not a limiter but it can handle well with load.
one minor observation i have to make is that this gov slightly overspeeds in fast decents like tailslides and this is pretty cool cause i can take advantage of the extra pop and increased cyclic responce!
since i am so happy with the stock gov i am not tempted to try anything else.

Yes stock gov does work well for the price that is for sure! As good as the 7100R rev limiter or say a highly adjustable Multigov? Nope..... But good enough that I am keeping my Align gov on the 600n

Cool, thanks guys. So I'll just stick with my original plan on using the AR7100 with stock Align gov.

Hi
The Spectrum sensor rev limiter will work with the Throttle Jockey Pro Governor and Rev limiter

the align gov works great, but the 7100r with 100% flat throttle curves works even better, I notice less overspeeding and more constant RPM. plus it is much neater.
also the align gov is a gov not a revlimiter.

Maybe a stupid question, but here it goes anyway.
Can someone explain to me what the diffirence is between a governor and a rev limiter?:dontknow

A governor keeps the revs constant no matter how much pitch you put on the blades.
ie. you set your governor to 2000 rev head speed it will try and maintain that in all attitudes.
The rev limiter prevents the motor going over the head speed you set it at.
ie head speed set at 2000 max. it will vary the head speed according to the pitch up to the max you set it at.
That's my interpretation as I see it hope that explains it for you.

if you set the throttle curves to 100% flat with a revlimiter you will get affectively a gov. it will limit the throttle to set RPM and if it goes below the set RPM it will go to 100% throttle.

the kit come with align gov. it work so well, no point to spend $80 more over AR7100 to get AR7100r
