As the title says...is it worth it?

For those who have switched, does it fly any different, pros / cons?

Can someone tell me what exactly I have to get to convert?

Thanks all!!

Worth it = Yes.

I will never look back ever again at a flybared machine.

Would you mind telling me what you bought to make it work? Do they come as kits...like what parts would I need?

Thanks!

I bought a 3DX head for mine so much easier but you could try this, im running something similar on my 600E

http://www.readyheli.com/MIK4239_V_Bar_Rotor_Head_Conversion_For_Align_Trex _p/mik4239.htm

Couple of packs of these http://www.readyheli.com/Futaba_J_male_connector_kit_p/4100.htm

Probably 2 of these http://www.readyheli.com/22_AWG_Heavy_Duty_Servo_Wires_p/3513.htm

A Mikado Vbar or Skookum 360 and if using the SK360 a good tail gyro like a Spartan 760

a Good RX pack like an Outrage 2S2P5000

Good servos, descent torque and speed im actualy using InoLab760MG but you could go better again.

I would also recomend the QuickUK ball link kit thruout.

Custom mounting bracket to mount the gyro on too.

If you want to have a look what i have done check out the thread i have done on mine here - http://www.ausheli.com/apps/forums/topics/show/689773-trex-700-12s5000-flybarless-?next=

I wish manufacturers would start giving us the option of a flybarless model, all that puts me off is the cost of conversion. I will get round to it one day but at the moment investing that much I can buy another heli :)

So the V-bar set will replace my 611 gyro setup?

Will any flybarless system work with any flybarless head (if you know)?

Is the SK a replacement for the 611 as well or do they work together?

Also you said something about the gryo mount in the back. It can't mount in the front like a normal gyro?

Sorry for all the Q's...learing something new :P

Yep it will work with any good quality head setup.

It will work with the 611 but i believe the spartan to be better.

It would work at the front of the chopper but the closer to the main shaft it is the better it will work.

Most flybarless heads perform the same function. They're pretty much all interchangeable.

The SK360 requires a tail gyro, so you would need to use your 611 with it.

The V-Bar has its own tail gyro, so you can sell your 611 and put those funds towards the V-Bar. Everyone who has flown the V-Bar 4.0 says that you don't compare the V-Bar tail gyro to other gyros, you compare other gyros to the V-Bar tail. It's the best.

Flybarless is worth every penny! I would only go back to flybar if I had too, flybarless is just to good:YeaBaby:

The mikado head kit is what I have been using and it looks very nice and is the cheapest. When it come's to system's, v bar has the market. The new 4.0 software flys amazing and is very easy to get going.

Your doing a good job of talking me into buying a flybarless kit :)

I could sell a 600 to fund it on the 700, then if I get the V-Bar system I could use the GY611 from the 700 on my next gasser project...

Thanks guys for costing me more money!

As a guide what is the total cost of conversion including everything, just a rough guide?

Any chance of posting some pictures of your various head set ups...

Heres a few pictures of my 3DX head setup with Skookum 360 and Spartan 760

Titanium turnbuckles and QuickUK balls and Links.

Sorry for the picture size but bigger is better IMO

The $100US Mikado Conversion would work fine tho and save you some money.

Have a look at it here - http://www.readyheli.com/MIK4239_V_Bar_Rotor_Head_Conversion_For_Align_Trex _p/mik4239.htm

Is the Mikado head conversion for the Trex 700 good enough, is there any advantage getting a better head or is it just bling factor?

Well I took the plunge...

TrueBlood Head Dampeners (green ones)
MIK4239 V-Bar Rotor Head Conversion
MIK4010 MIK4010 V-Bar Flybarless Stabilization System (thanks readyheli)

It is easy to set this up...software wise that is. Are the instructions someone ok or is there a online guide?

Ok, I'm going to go FBL, but I have one question that I have never seen asked, much less answered.

Why aren't the pros flying FBL in competition?

nick maxwell, kyle dahl, andy rummer, daniel jetchin, and the rest of the mikado team, tim jones( on the beast) matt botos.

there are a ton of pros using it and they all agree it better. The reason alot arnt going flybarless is the same reason you havent, unsure and or just dont see the need too. Give it two more years and flybars will be gone.

I would also think that a lot of pilots out there are sponsored by Align (and others) and you won't see them in competition flying round with Mikado heads (or any other make) on their helis?

Maybe Align should be bringing out at least a head conversion option?
