There was not a single Gaui at OCMA Fun Fly on Sat. I know they aren't the most popular helis...but I kinda expected to see at least one. As I was carring mine from point "A" to point "B"...some people were looking at it like it was an alien or something. I didn't get a chance to fly it because I needed to do some soldering on a new ESC. I was just hoping, with all the helis there, that there would be at least one fellow Gaui owner.
Great Fun Fly though. Trex 700s dominated by sheer numbers.

I'm not sure how many flights you get to put in each day at a fun fly with everyone wanting to fly, but there were 12 hurri 550 flights and 21 hurri 200 flights on Saturday that i can verify.. just not at that fun fly :).
I was invited out again today to go to another party, but heck, i can't fly helis there..so.. i decided to go flyin' again instead!
Yup, i'm addicted. :banana :YeaBaby: :cheers

I didn't get there first thing in the morning....I still doubt there were any earlier. Just about everyone there was way hardcore flyers though. Pretty sick stuff. The drag races and auto contest were pretty cool.

If I wasnt working the event I would have had my 200 there! Since I knew I would be busy announcing all day, I didnt bring a single heli with me....

Mine was there but I only flew it once.
Packs are getting old and I've been spending on the 600.
Sorry we didnt meet up. Everyone who saw mine had to look at it 3 times and asked "what the hell is it?" :D

Not sure how I missed it...then again there was alot of very nice birds to look at. I never even got around to getting my chair out of the car...so the E-Zup didn't make either....only got a few helis out at the end for show-n-tell. Can't wait 'til next year.

I didn't set up a table or anything. Pulled it out of the car flew it.. put it back in the car.
One of my outrage 3700 packs is pretty much toast after 80 or so flights. :(

After this day flight, Im really disapointed about my hurrys performance :arggg:
The investemnt in scorpion motor and new ESC was rubish.... After some mild tic tocs or loops, the main rotor stops quite hard, so basicly no performance
I dont know is it worth to put another motor in it or should I got to another bird...
offcourse, firstly I have to push it to the limit with other maneuvers, its good bird to learn, cheap parts etc.. but Overall... ech... I dont know..

so you're saying that your main rotor blades stop spinning quickly once you let off the throttle? i had that problem with my trex500 and it turns out that my pinion/gear mesh was too tight. the hurri actually autos like a champ which suggests that the blades should keep their momentum pretty well if you cut the power down.
i have way more power in my z30 hurri then my 500. i would make sure that you have proper backlash between your pinion and front main gear.
could be the new motor/esc combo as well...
i just saw on your info bar that you're using woodies.... those are definitely not meant for 3d moves like tictocs... cf blades are a world apart from woodies

the Z30-1110 is the motor you need...the scorpion motors are OK in smaller heli's... but they don't have the power needed to spin the 500-550mm blades for 3D.. unless you start looking at the 1400kv model.. or you make the mods needed to use a scorpion 4020-1100

Mystic, You think the 3026-1400 for 500-550 blades would work?
I have that motor in my 500 running a 14T 100 flat and am replacing it with a Z15a-1620kv. The 3026-1400 is too hard on the 2600mah packs I'm running.
Might have to try it in the 550. The z20a980kv is dogging with 550 blades. Course weak packs dont help.

2nd on the hurri doing a good auto
Was only 30 ft when the esc cut -completely-
landed smoother than under power.

I haven't had much of a chance to evaluate the 3026 1400 set-up with the 550mm blades....been having problems with the CC 80A ESC & BEC. I'm switching to the Align 75A ESC with the Sport BEC. From what little I did get to fly....the 3026 1400 seems to swing the 550s pretty good. I'm not upto hard 3D...but hit the collective pretty hard, popping up and down and it didn't bog in the slightest. Once I get the ESC issue staightened out, I will have someone wring it out and get back to you on the performance of the 3026 1400....so far, I think I like it. Everything came down nice and cool. There's always the Z30 if the Scorpion doesn't workout.

What I was saying, that the main rotor bogs, with the autorotation everything is fine.
I knew that i should take 3026-1400kw instead of 1210 kw  But why i choosed the weaker one I dont know....
Maby I should go for z30  But again money money....

the Z30 is a proven performer in the Hurri... which is the main reason it gets recommended over the scorpion...or any other brand..

:wow2::wow2::wow2::wow2::wow2::wow2::wow2::wow2:
And I thought that helicopters and dogging were separate hobbies (Google it if it isn't a US pass-time)

oh i see... yeah that would be frustrating man- i feel your pain! i have the same prob in my trex500 and even at a 100% tc the thing bogs like none other...
i bet you could sell your scorpion and look for a used z30 and the cost difference might not be too bad... but then again... shipping might be a bit expensive.
well, on the bright side- you'll learn to be real efficient with your collective at least

I saw at least 3 Gaui machines at OCMA including JaggedEdge's. There were some there, but most people there have multiple helis in and out of the car all day if they don't have a Ex-Up or table.
Bob actually had a few helis with him hiding in the back of his truck under a coat but he never had time because he was working so I did not have the heart to tell him he missed out on flying. Bob got up at 4:30 and worked from 6:20AM until after 7PM at the field, what a day it was!!:smokin::smokin: See everybody next year!!

I was probably on sensory overload :shock:with all the nice birds there. I just didn't see them.
