now that I have finished test flight phase of the RaptorCam I've finally made a battery tray since I now know where the batteries need to be located. It's cut from G10. I am able to move the packs fore/aft as much as +/3" from center which allows me to either run a heavy video camera with lens or a light small point and shoot still camera. CG is easily adjusted.

Also here's how I mounted the Eagle Tree RPM sensor. I used a piece of Plastruct I-Beam ( absolutely love Plastruct!) I heated the I-Beam over a candle and formed it into this shape. Then I mounted up the sensor and heat shrunk it in place. The I-Beam mount screws into the canopy mount hole. If youre running a stock canopy you can just shorten the aluminum stud and screw it over the RPM mount.

I painted the top of the gear with flat black paint (use fuel proof paint for nitro) and then stuck two pieces of polished aluminum duct tape 180° apart. The sensor is about 4mm from the face of the gear. Leave the sensor setting at 2 pulses/rev and RPM's read correctly.

This mount took me about 5 minutes to make... super simple

How's that Eagle tree setup work for you. I've been thinking of adding a gov. I've been getting a bit of overspeed on windy days. I guess it would be from the extra transitional lift and not needing that much collective. Just deciding which to go with, ya know.
