I am brand new to RC and so I am starting from scratch. So I bought a used Futaba 6EXHP and the REFLEX Flight Sim to learn while I am putting together my Trex 450XL.

I spent alot of time trying to figure out the new software and new RC. I couldn't get any of the helicopters to fly right in REFLEX. I programed the channels in REFLEX to match my Futaba but it still wasn't right. Thinking the software may be buggy, I setup on the bench the receiver and some serovs and they were acting strange too. The elevator would activate the throttle, the throttle would move the pitch, etc. Yet the transmitter was a MODE 2, US model. The dealer said it was MODE 2. HOWEVER, I found out later that it was in MODE 1. Don't know why or how. (Maybe that is why the first owner of the radio crashed!) The manual mentions nothing about switching modes but I found out how on the net (hit MODE and SELECT at power up). Once I set it to MODE 2, I was actually able to fly and almost hover (for a few seconds anyway).

It is hard enough to get started as it is but to find out that your transmitter wasn't in the mode your thought it was can make you a little crazy. I post this for any new comers who may benifit from this.
