And guys too.

I did a little more work on my AP website (http://www.precisionwhirlycam.com/) last night and uploaded the changes to reflect the start of a FAQ page and a portfolio page that has pictures taken from 100% my rig.

Could you gals take a look through it and tell me what you think?

A black background really lets pictures punch out at you, BUT, I'm really getting sick at looking at all the black going on. I'm not a really creative person...so I figured I would pick some other people's minds.

:glasses2:

Thanks!!!

Jeanette

Go here: http://www.kde-look.org/content/search.php?search=Search&name=wallpaper

Choose a Wallpaper (Background) as an example like this:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=25561&PHPSESSID=cede3012e12e71b467a8a7274a40c778

These are pictures that can be saved at a low resolution but won't make the background too dark or boring while at the same time won't use too much space and slow the site down too much during download.

Hey Jeanette!

I took a look at your site - cool pics - the arial photos sound like fun!!!! Oh and I see you work on a Mac - a woman after my heart - I am a fellow Mac user too (graphic designer). Anyway I know you like the way black can make a pic pop but there are other ways to do that - here would be one example...........you have a black outer glow with a cloud photo for the background - this way you can have type over the clouds and still read the type and can make it many different colors..........

I think it looks great. I really like the opening page, very different and I think that the colors you used against the black are easy to read.

How about putting the actual link in your signature so all people have to do is click on the link in your posts.

Hey kjfly, I'm still learning all there is to know about Macs. I love this machine. I got a MacBook Pro for the business and it is our home computer as well until we can afford to buy a second. We'll probably end up getting one of those 21" iMacs...nice and compact for the desk...but large viewing area.

I like what you did with that picture. I might have to do some playing around over the next few weeks! All I'm using for image editing is the stuff that came on my Mac: iPhoto, iWeb...etc. They are pretty easy programs to learn...once you brain dumb all your Windows knowledge! :glasses2:

Robin, I edited my original post to automatically take people to my website when they click on "AP website"...hmmm, wonder if that code would work in a signature...

dont go for a pattern or image in background behind the photograhy it will really distract from your lovely areal pics and look cheap stick with the black as you have it looks more classy and nicer.
i hate seeing dodgy clip art stuff on website backgrounds..yours looks fine.
as u can tell i work in design too...

ever think of upgrade your AP equiment? like a single len digital camera ,, i has a canon s1is the picture quality just so so . also the equiment page: on the picture show a Jr6102 TX , instead of 9303 .

Yeah, I'd love to hang a dSLR camera off of my mount, but I'm not going to until the AP thing can pay for it. On the equipment page, the 6102 is pictured with the camera mount which is controlled by the 6102. I use the 9303 on the heli itself. :)

I think the site looks great Jeanette. I use the Internet for work and use it a lot.
I always appreciate it when sites set themselves up to have the images easy to see and make the controls intuitive, thus making the site easy to navigate.

I would not change a thing! :clappp

Hi Whirley-Girl,

I like the website. I like the black. My reasoning is purely rational: when a monitor is showing black, it isn't using any energy, and it isn't bombarding my eyes with light. It is less fatiguing. I much prefer black background and light text to white with black text.

The next step to making your business take off is getting that link to the right people. Advertising, in other words. Make up simple business cards. I bet one of the graphics designers here would do it for you for not a lot of money, and it would be sharp. Then, pound the pavement and hand them out to all your local real estate people. Run cheap ads in the local paper.

You're giving me ideas now. It would be neat to find a way to do this hobby and at least recover *some* of the expense. ;)

Thank you for more feedback Jeremy!

I have done some of your suggestions already, but took a break from the business over the course of this summer. I'm just about ready to start getting back in the groove and I already have a realtor wanting to meet with me as soon as possible.

Just make sure that if you do want to start doing this as a way to recover some of the hobby expense that you do it the right way from the start and always keep safety paramount.
