Charozens (Charlie) came in from WA state for a few days and we were able to hook up Thurs and Fri and do some FF.....(fixin & flyin).
Wind was a little strong but we had a great time anyway. Was great to fly with a fellow Freak and get another Hurri in the air at my field.....
Charlie had a Bow case that worked real well shipping his hurri on the flight down.
We flew both days and spent about 6 hours each day at my model clubs flying field.
Enjoyed the great company and fun times.....

Well crap Mike, I coulda been there too for an old farts freak meet. The wife left Wednesday for Asheville, N.C. to attend her sisters wedding on Saturday but I didn't go.
Seems it would have only been about a couple hour drive from there to Nashville.
Maybe next time.:cheers

Bobby....after the first day....it was freakin 95 deg...(thank god for the wind)....we both smartened up and wore WHITE.....didn't need any extra heat from a colored shirt !! :banana
Charlie didn't get as much flight time as he might have liked (due to winds)....but it sure beat him lounging around the hotel pool all day looking at Femme Fatales and getting himself into trouble with the Missus

I can't believe how fast this thing climbs with the z 30. If I ever get it under control it will be badass. I look forward to putting some cf blades on it.

I used to work with large crews of people on projects requiring everyone to wear hard hats and flame resistant coverall. A certain persuasion of the group was assigned dark green hard hats and the other portion wore white hard hats. I did a little investigation and found the temperature difference inside a hard hat in the noon central florida sun was 30 deg F differential between colors. Mgmt saw the light and dumped the dark hats. Everybody got white.
The coveralls started out dark blue for everyone and this made absolutely no sense to me so I proved the same numbers with the suits. The flame resist only came like that so I found some white rated material and had all new coveralls made. 700 suits.
Something that was interesting to me. Cotton was the fabric of choice for flame retard. Boron impregnated though with special launder.

Beats me my people buy BLACK cars that live in the southern heat
The inside almost gets hot enough to melt the plastic trim.

Just logged on to HF since my arrival. Mike was a great host (THANKS MIKE) and they have an outstanding field with lots of tables that are shaded (covered), and a super nice paved runway, etc.
I did crash on the last day when I lost orientation. I still cannot seem to get the hang of nose-in flight. I hope to overcome this soon!!! I have lots of tips and help from folks and I got it down on the sim, but I screw it up in "real" flight. I can do piros both directions OK. YouTube - gaui 550 piros.
Bringing the Hurri as checked baggage was a pain, but Mike was a great host and it did make the week pass by fast. The bow case I bought to transport the Hurri in worked out real well and it was only $40. I did ship the lipos by mail ahead of time. You cannot put lipos in "checked bags" lipos but you can bring them on with carryon but the rules are very complex - and as always - the captain has the final say.......so I mailed them - 4 4000mah lipos were only $5 with flatrate "folder" type packaging.
I also lost power about 40 feet up and sort of "auto-d" in. We found a cracked oneway bearing gear. It was a 19t but it was the thicker or taller version like the 20's. I have VXB on order.
I got a comment from razeyoshi who said that the sqeal that is heard on my Hurri and many others is the same sound he heard before his oneway failed. I know there is much debate on whether to grease this oneway bearing, or not, and some guys have real strong feelings about it. I have asked VXB their "official" opinion but I don't have a reply yet.
MIKE: I did crack the case last night and replaced both main bearings. They were both bad. I think I may have got shoe-goop in them or something because they were only about 5-10 hours old and there is no way they should have failed.
Better get to packing. Our flight leaves this afternoon.

It was really, really unbelievable. Midsummer day. Standing on dark asphalt. I have no idea what some people are actually thinking. If what they are doing can be called that.
Getting everyone into light colored clothing is one of my proudest moments.
Now I am trying to figure out why somebody put dark brown shingles on the roof of the used house I bought. (of course I know the real answer) Am seriously thinking of painting it white.

Supposedly it was what one of the Caesers dying words were. I forget which one.
Vae, puto deus fio. --- Oh my, I think I am turning into a god.
It was how I felt when I was first able to sorta control one of these infernal machines.
