I don't know if it is a squeal so much as you will hear some high pitch gear whine if you have a quiet muffler.

yes .me and my friend . we have the same problem keep chasing down for two years by now, it is hard to explain the sound ..
usually when i make the turn or out of one flip . the sound come and go . it is like losing part. not to noisy sound . not hurt anything yet .
but all way still there
any idea will appreciate.

yeah thats the sound a high pitch Whine noise... its only on a few stratus's i think.. mine had it... in one of henry caldwell vids were his motor dies it makes an awful whine..

it sorta sounds like the motors lean but its not.

it has me thinking, i think it could be the open tail gearbox, because the gears are out in the open and are dry?... maybe that could be it

If you also hear it when doing an auto, then I would say it's the mesh between the crown gear and tail drive gear. I might be wrong though.

:dontknow i have rebuilt mine after a massive Lockout, and has a torque tube and bearing out of my old fury extreme so i'll see what happens...

Mine has a slight whistle type noise that I have assumed was the carbon tech blade tips but not 100 percent sure .
I'm positive it has always been there and the heli probably has about around 8 gallons of fuel through it .
Heli has had new mainshaft bearings , torque tube assembly , mesh has been adjusted several times on pinion to engine mesh and tail box mesh also . I also recently rebuilt the engine after I had words with it , my fault there .
It flys sweet as other than some slight interaction .
But never the less still have noise . I have had a few guys ask what it is and others don't notice it . I've never tried another set of blades to see if it's the problem . I have also noticed a gear noise which I believe is pretty normal when using the hatori pipe as it is pretty quiet .
I'm just about to reset my gear meshes now as I have noticed a slight amount of slop at the engine end and tail box that I would like to close up .
I guess I'll see if this makes any differents to the " Noises " from my Stratus .
I watch all the vids I can of people flying their Stratus to see if I can pick up on noises , seems some are louder than others . I think if ya have like an OS 91 c spec screaming pretty hard you wont hear squat over the engine noise from what I've seen .
Any hoo
cheers

Just double check where the slop is coming from. I have some slop between the Head and the tail.
But it is not coming from the Tail gearbox or the pinion to main gear. It seems to be coming from the ring at the bottom of the main shaft.
It has a pin in it which seems to have a some play in the bottom hole of the mainshaft.

Hey Alfred , Sorry, I probably wrote that a bit wrong .
What I meant was that my pinion to main gear mesh has a little bit more free play than it used to have and I need to ajust it out a little .
Also I have the same at the tail box end , mesh between the gears is a bit too much which I need to adjust out .
I have had the main gear all out and repelced the main shaft a while ago , not much fuel burnt since then , and I readjusted everything there at that time .
I think the gear set has just settled and needs a slight nip up .
I haven't really given the tail a hard time at all until now when I have started doing piro manouvers or should I say trying to do piro flips, piro loops and what ever .
I think this has only just seated the tail gears now due to the tail getting a bit of stick .
I'm not 100 percent sure but mine doesn't have any slop at the area your talking about , bottom of mainsahft locking collar, I dont think .
May have to check that while I do the gear mesh adjustments .

Cheers
Jason .
