View Full Version : Any word from Hirobo about the weak-tail?

Hi,
I'm curious if Hirobo has responding about the weak-tail issue. This seems like a major flaw (hard to believe it would have passed testing) and you would think Hirobo (being how well they are known for flawless quality) would quickly respond with a statement/replacement part/fix/solution. This is about the only complaint (other than cost) I've heard about this helicopter, and I think if Hirobo wants to charge this much money, they had better address it. So, any word?
If not, who can I contact at Hirobo? Maybe nobody has taken the time to contact them yet? I'd be happy with just the US distributor or somebody who can talk directly with Hirobo. I don't even own one, so I'm really not the right person to go about doing this, but I'd sure like to know what's up as a potential buyer.
Thanks,
David

Also, if this isn't the only issue that is absolutely proven/factual, and has not been addressed by Hiboro, what else is there? I'd like to just get it all out of the way at the same time. Maybe Bob can chime in here?

We are discussing it in PM. He has informed me that Hirobo has been informed about the possible design issues. So far no response if the issues have been responded to.
Thanks,
David

Thanks buster1. :) Various other people have confirmed this.

I know a lot of Hirobo and X Hirobo reps... They have all looked over MY machine and have given me comments. Some I agree with others I dont... Well I can understand why Jeff filters like he does! Some are WAY too much and some are valuable!
One thing I heard was this is one of the FIRST machines that Reps did not get a chance to evaluate and give feedback before it went public..... This was a complaint I heard EVERY time.
Jeff is free to call me anytime and he knows very well my opinion as well as my design issues!
I tell it like it is and try to stay HONEST 100% to people that trust my opinion. I have NO brand or REP orientation to bias my opinion! Bottom line this is a HOT bird but does need some changes.... I ask people that have one and have flown it to tell me otherwise!
In the end YES this bird needs some changes. You CANT just change the tail blade length without having ground clearance issues. Sure extend the vert fin then have landing or boom strike issues. There are some OTHER changes that need to happen!
I think Hirobo will address these but they are NOT FAST AND never have been. Now they are in a NEW market and if they want a popular bird they cant take freakin 6 months to change things.... For cryps sake Align will have a bird out this size by then if they do (AND THEY WILL)!
No here is my opinion of what needs to change
1) It's not just longer tail blades! Sure they can do FAST! But the landing gear has to change to a higher profile along with the vert fin. BUT I also think the current 4 to 1 tail speed needs to be speed up! OR we go higher head speeds BUT that needs to be supported by Hirobo and how the HEAD will deal with that... Align NEVER has done this.. Well DO IT Hirobo! Oh and BTW I dont think raising the HS is valuable as this bird PERFORMES well at 2600-2800 so any higher is doing nothing but stressing parts!
2) The belt pitch has to get tighter for belt slack...... I got my belt SO tight I don’t like it and on some maneuvers it still "rings" in the boom. The teeth on the belt is FAR to small and so is the pitch! This is going to be a WEAK point in the system trust me based on experience. Christ the Trex belt is more substantial than this thing!
Again, I have shared this "opinion" with Jeff. Now if Hirobo wants this 4S 500 size market... THEY BETTER MOVE NOW! No one wants to pay that price and get a bird that needs "TWEAKS". At that price it NEEDS to be close to 100%.
But in the end... I LOVE flying this bird! WHY? The shear power and power to weight performance just ROCKS! Cyclic performance is really good and TIGHT! This aint no freakin sloppy Trex! And I love the size :)
OK I am off my :soapbox

I can tell you the landing gear issue is already being addressed (unfortunately not by Hirobo). Corrado from Heliup is making new skids for it that look beefier and raise the heli higher. Hopefully they will be made from the same material as the Gorilla Gear for the Trex.
I think it's just a fact of life that any new heli has issues. I'm not done with my Trex 600 yet but I've already suffered through the broken link issue and the bellcrank rod has way to much slop in it. Mine moves a good 1-2mm side to side.

Gscott..... the extra 3rd washer that I didnt know what to do in my vid... THAT is for taking up the slop. But think about it. That side to side slop wont hurt anything! It's not like those bearings in he bell cranks are spinning at high speed or anything!

Strange that I didn't have the 3rd washer in that bag. I had one in the spare parts bag that I used but it didn't really help. I haven't installed the servos yet but I hope you're right and it doesn't affect anything. The only thing I'm really not excited about on the 600 is color of the anodizing. I wish they had stayed with the blue or left it silver or grey.

I have come to the conclusion after seeing and helping( a little) with a Lepton yesterday, that my tail belt was not as tight as it should have been.
I think think Vipuls Lepton flew very smooth. :D He had the Viper tail blades.
Mine was smooth, but I do believe now after seeing how tight his belt was...mine was to loose.
So my comments on the tail should be disregarded.
My exp with this machine so far has been poor, and its not Hirobos fault.
First a 3101 servo fried with no flights. Locked.
Next my CC 60 melted and got real hot on my first hover. CC replaced it.
Next at a FF my Hyperion 8 turn motor, the bell came loose off the shaft. Set screws backed out. :dontknow I had several people look it over to see if it was set up right...no one found any issues. So I know it was not a set up issue...JUST MY BAD LUCK!!!!!
So maybe thats why I was frustrated. do you still love me?
