hi there,

silly question are you using velcro over the tank??... are you cleaning the fuel tank before you put on some new tape... Try getting some of the double sided heavy duty velcro that 3M have its like a plastic stuff, and stick this under the tank both sides... then the MA velcro over the top..

another tip clean the carbon plate and fuel tank with Acetone to get all the fuel and oil off so it will stick like shit to a blanket.

Cheers,
matty

I don't know about the 3M tape you use, but it's the way it is done that causes most failures.
As Comms Technician I use double sided tape for all kinds of attachment.
The reason that it let's go is due to inadequate preparation of the surface.

Get yourself those alcohol tissues that you can get to clean Sunglasses etc.
they come in a small bag with one little tissue at a time.
Clean both the tank and the Carbon base plate using a tissue for each at a time.
Now once it evaporated do it again. Let it evaporate and DON'T touch the surface with you fingers.
Apply the tape (you get one chance only) and press down the tank.
Hold the tank down with pressure for at least 10 seconds.
Now leave it alone for 24 hours.
Yes, the tape's adhersion will increase over the next 48 hours.
Your 2 velcro strips will hold the tank down, while the double sided tape stops sideways movement.
You did glue on the 2 square rubber feet underneath the tank I assume?

The reason it lets go is if you do any backwards flying or backwards inverted flying the fuel exhaust gets on the glue and turns it to jello. I've heard that Walmart has a pretty good sided double tape that works well, as per Clintstone, but last week I simply put a two 1/4 beads of "goop" glue on and glued it on. So far seems to work like a champ, and it appears that the good is not bothered by the fuel.

thank you for your idea. most of the time i do backward fly.the fuel tank will move a round after 10 or 15 flies.
my friend having the same problem, i may try glue it on and seat for 24 hours.
thank you again

I use goop to glue the bumpers to the bottom of the tank . I then use double sided tank to mount tank and then I fasten it to the bottom plate with velcro.

Most of you probably never saw a tank mounted this way.
But you can always mount the tank like it was mounted in the original X-cell when it came out. Worked great and tank is not going anywhere. You can see how it is mounted on this plan sheet. :glasses2:

You can read about the installation in the above thread. There is pictures also.

It will be held in place with two long nylon wire ties. As for the cushion on the bottom. Not sure how it will be. Bobby Watts has a neat way of holding the tank and cushioning it.
