Hi,
Question for you guys. I put together the lepton as per the manual and finless's recommendations. However, I notice that at swash afr around 55 and -55 for aileron and elevator (I am running a futaba 9C), I can get full throws but when I bring the throttle to around half stick, at the extreme, the linkages are hitting. So I turned down the swash to around 35 -35 and it wasn't hitting at the extremes but it just wasnt enough throw when flying, it did a slooooow loop. So wanted to ask what to adjust in order to get maximum throw without it hitting the linkages. any help would be appreciated. Note I have my pushrods and links set to what hirobo recommended. So let me know if that is a problem. Thanks.

Use a pitch gauge to check your paddle deflection. Adjust your AIL and ELE percentages to around +/- 7 degrees. Fly and see how the heli feels.
Here's my setup so far:
> short mixer arm balls (in/out)
> SWM rods = ~21.5mm
> swash rods = ~15.5mm
> mixing arm rods = 0mm
> pitch rods = ~2mm (per manual)
> AIL = +38
> ELE = -38
> PIT = +38
These values yield approximately +12, 0, -11 degrees without even messing with the pitch curve. All the arms line up nicely at half stick, and at full positive throw, the washout and main hub just have enough clearance at 1mm. Hirobo's recommendations are off especially the swash rates. I'll bump the cyclic to 12 or 14 degrees when I start flying next week.

vksy,
I recommend you fly it before bumping the cyclic up! A lot of us have actually dialed in dual rate to reduce the cyclic! :)

I have flown it, at 35 on the ail and ele, it does a really slow loop, not fun at all and no potential for 3D. I then took out 5 turns on the 3 swash links and was able to get to around 45 on the ail and ele. There is still hitting if I am at half throttle and full ail and ele, howver for a loop it is better, not a hot performer but can do a decent flip. However nothing to write home about. I want to get to about 55 on ail and ele however I know that there will be hitting for sure so I am not sure what mod to make. I will see if I can make a small video to show you guys.

What linkages are hitting what? Make sure you dont have the washout backwards BTW. I made that mistake but again I need to know what linkages are hitting and what are they hitting? Picture maybe? I am running 55 on the dot and at the beginning I had them arouns 62 and dialed them down as it was too much.

Ok Bob,
Here is more info on what I am experiencing, first here are pics of my head, let me know if you see a problem right away.Something is hitting at full up or down elevator or aileron with around a 1/4 throttle. The video will show more.
This is again, at +-55 for ail and ele, I could potentially go down to +-40 on the swash AFR but then the heli loops and flips fairly slowly so I think this is a problem is some setup.
here is the video, I believe you will be able to tell the problem from here:

ok please help me out with this, thanks in advance...

in the air that will not be an issue. On the ground the heli can not move in reaction to the cyclic changes you are inputing thus it looks like it is hitting.
example: as you are hovering level and you push forward on the cyclic to go into ff. the heli will pitch nose down as you input the cyclic to go forward so the flybar is more level with the heli.

Yep Mudbogger is CORRECT! Without blades and REAL loads that will NOT be an issue. You are over analyzing the head here. In real flight conditions the flybar will not tip that far to cause the binding you are seeing......
MOST heli's I have built have this EXACT same issue when not under load and flying!

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your help, looks like I will leave my swash at 55 or so and see how she flies. Thanks again.
