I have a job to shoot for a standing client of mine. Our current deal is for anything in a 60 mile radius.

After that there will be a charge for time/fuel expense.

They just asked me to do a shoot that is 100 miles beyond the 60 I give them, so it will be 200 miles of driving/expenses to charge for.

I have seen some people charge like .50 cents a mile, or .60 cents a mile.

I have seen others charge something like $1 a mile and that includes fuel expense and paying you for your travel time.

I dropped them a quote of the $1 per mile on top of the regular shoot price.

Anyone else care to state what they do for the travel?

Thanks,

depends if I have to stay overnight or not. I'll charge about $.75/mile for a one day gig and the same for an overnighter but I also add cost of lodging plus about 10%.

I think your figure of $1/mile is reasonable

Here is the link to the per diem listing the government uses and includes milage rates. It is on the low side for some areas and on the high side for others. Also the lodging rates would be no good because they list the government rates, it might help you in your estimates though.

Thanks everyone.

I actually went back and pulled out the original proposal I gave them over a year ago, and I already had in the $1 per mile for outside of our area back then, so I am covered, plus gas is even more expensive now, so they should have no problem with it since it's already in our agreement. :)
