Does Hirobo have a separate part number for a replacement clutch liner for the Evo 50? If not, have any of you guys used a substitute, like a Raptor clutch liner?

Thanks! I looked all over my manual for a part number and didn't see one. I must have missed it.

You are most welcome! I don't think the Sceadu EVO manual mentions the lining's own part number at all, taking a quick look in both the SWM and HPM manuals gives that they seem to only mention the clutch bell including lining. But as the lining is the same for all Hirobo models I have learned it from other models and it has stuck in memory :), see for example drawings for the Shuttle (http://www.ronlund.com/images/shuttle/drive.gif) and the GPH (http://www.ronlund.com/images/plans/GPH/drive.gif).

Yea I had to call Ricks and tell Nathan what I wanted, when it got here it was the same one I have a stack of for my Shuttle.

Parts ordered.
Follow-up question: Am I supposed to JB Weld the liner in, or is the Hirobo liner self-adhesive? I was surprised to see how easily I could cut out the old liner.

I use JB weld. I don't know what they use at the factory.
I assume you know the trick of two wraps of electrical tape around the clutch, butted end to end, stuff it in while its drying.

Yup. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

30 minute epoxy is more than enough. there is no need to use JB.

The problem with JB Weld is that it makes it a lot harder the next time you have to replace the liner. I use 30 minute epoxy and soak the bell in acetone to remove it the next time.

Hey, that's good thinking. I hadn't considered that. I've always used JB, just out of habit (and I wasn't sure if epoxy would handle heat). That makes a lot of sense, though.

in a correctly operating clutch, the bell/liner/epoxy interface doesn't get hot.

I have never seen epoxy break down in acetone (I am not saying it wont) I will have to give that a try next time. I always just set it on a hot sove for a minute and it comes right out.
But definately epoxy. JB weld would require a lathe to remove...Unless someone knows a trick to getting that out.

Epoxy is what I used as well and acetone takes it right out after letting it soak for a little while if you ever have to replace it.
