Does the plastic gear (tooth whees) need lubrication? The manual doesn't say anything...

Capture the ball links is there a part # I am new to gassers and never heard of such a thing. :dontknow

Just keep an PM your bird and make sure loose ball links are replaced and you really shouldn't have too much of a problem.

why the T connector in the vent line in the manual? :(

If you plumb it as shown, the vent line has a one way check valve on it. So as you're filling the tank with fuel, the check valve closes and doesn't vent. This causes the tank to puff up and will usually wind up spraying gas everywhere. If you open the vent line at the T connection, then everything works fine.
there are of course other ways to plumb this, however thats why it is as documented.
