I just got my nifty new Venture 50 flying yesterday, just a quick hop in the back yard. It flies pretty good as far as I can tell from just hovering around.
There are a couple of things I don't care for as far as the way it is put together. First thing beiing the clutch hub. It requires the use of the prop flange for the OS50, and doesn't have a very good way to center the clutch. The next item is the tail pitch lever. It is like the Ergo type but much looser. I am going to have to work on this one to get it tightened up. The canopy is just butt ugly. Seems to be the way of JR lately. It would look much better with a nice sleek cabin. It is also big and covers up all the fuel lines. Not being one for elaborate plumbing setups, this makes it necessary to remove the cabin to fuel up. If the supplied header tank (great idea!) had two vents instead of one, I would just fuel through the other vent, butI am going to have to use a tee and a couple of shutoffs to make it easier to fuel up.
There are a lot of things I really do like about it. The battery tray houses a 1400ma NiCD nicely, so you don't have to figure out where to put the battery and keep it from flopping around. The reciever is placed on top of the tray, and installs nicely with some KSJ reciever wrap, and there are six really nice lugs to attach rubber bands and holds it in place well.
It has a belt drive tail which is cheap to fix compared to a shaft drive, perfect for a good "no worries" type heli you can wring out and not worry about messing up so bad. It also has a KSJ slipper clutch for driving the tail during autos. It was not adjusted correctly from the manufacturer, but that was an easy fix.
They included a KSJ header tank, which is usually soemthing that I never think to get any way, so that is nice. They also included four large servo horns for JR servos, which were a great addition.
The rear facing engine makes glowplug access easy.
I won this heli in a rafle at the Junction City KS funfly and I am very thankful to them for that. It made crashing the Vigor not so unpleasant. Rafael was joking with me that it cost me more to crash then for him to buy a new Raptor, well not any more buddy!
When I get a chance to wring it out at the field I will report more on how it flies.
