? on installing fan

installing the fan on a os91sx. the manaul says the washer between the engine and collet (bottom collet) is optional. how do most of you run yours? with or without washer? oh yeah its going into a extreme.

Here is way to tell. If without the washer the end of the crankshaft is flush with the top of the fan hub. Then you need to add the washer. I have always used the washer that comes on the crankshaft of the engine when it is new. If the crank shaft is flush with top of fan. The clutch driver will not engage into the hub completely.

Mate the fan hub and clutch driver together and trial fit them before you put the engine in the model. That way you will know if they will mate together correctly.

well the clutchdriver is already installed in the heli. i will go ahead and add the washer to be on the safe side. Thanks for your help David!
